Ate here for dinner with friends. The place was packed with a wait for a table or booth. We were very hungry so we chose to sit at the bar rather than wait. Food is just “okay”. It wasn’t gourmet for sure but rather a down-Home family restaurant. It’s frequented by senior citizens. This is a fried seafood ( but they have “landlubber” choices too) sort of place with lots of menu choices. There is a full service bar. The Food quantity is glutinous...so much! I ordered a fried oysters dinner. It came with a small side salad along with a choice of two regular sides. I had the spinach casserole and baked potato. The casserole was very good. Food was delivered in an instant. I was really surprised due to how busy they were. Here was he rub... the bartender was our server and was not especially friendly. He came across as having an attitude especially toward us. While we waited and waited to order a beverage, place our food order and get silverware, he joked around with other employees while leaning on the bar. He even took the food order of the people Sitting next to us who arrived easily 15 minutes after us. I finally interrupted him so we could get the ball rolling for us! We had to interrupt every time we needed something like a second drink, silverware, glass of water, extra tartar sauce, our check, etc.

I realize there may have been other issues unknown to us that interfered with our service. Yet it did not seem to impact the service to others sitting at the bar. That’s why it seemed to be directed to us.

That fellow needs a serious attitude adjustment or some remedial customer service training. It really did color our experience in a negative way and it didn’t need to be that way.

Oh some other news!! On weekends Schooners is now offering live music on their newly added outdoor deck. That should be fun addition... especially if they get a...

Meh, not impressed! Another local suggestion that fell MISERABLY FLAT 😮‍💨. Started with the Gator Tail & Onion 🌰 Rings for appetizers no real complaints there so I thought we were off to a good start. For some reason, they brought our sides, coleslaw, and salad out before our apps arrived which slightly confused 😕 me but I went with it. Should've known the rest would be off but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. We moved on to the main course, Broiled Trio for me ( Mahi, Shrimp & Scallops) and Surf & Turf for my companion (Ribeye & Scallops). Mine was every bit of basic with a side of just ok. Nothing really stood out and said dang, this is yum. I mean if I had to choose, I'd say the beets won the plate. As far as my companion well this is where it gets good. Every time we order a steak we always ask, "How good is the cook? " Usually they'll come back with a fair answer. This answer was wrong on all accounts. The steak went back three times and they still didn't get it right. The request was mid-rare. The first time it came out medium. The second time it came out raw, and the third time it came out rare. Needless to say, if you're a steak connoisseur, they will not get your steak right at all. They ended up taking the steak off the bill and charging us just for the Scallops which alone were $22. If I'm being honest, and I always am, price and value do not match up at all at this location. This is not a place I would return to nor recommend to anyone I know or even don't know. If this is what St. Augustine has to offer for seafood, I feel bad for y'all. The service was good, but the service can not make up for poor food and...

Extremely disappointing experience especially by the manager who has no customer service skills. The managers response to our feedback to the food we ordered was rude to such an extent that I do not recommend anyone visiting the restaurant, as she gives the impression that customers are a bother and not welcomed.

We ordered the stuffed shrimp dinners. The entrée was to be served with crab meat filing. When the food arrived it was the equivalent of fried shrimp with batter, virtually no stuffing. We did not touch the meal but called our server, Maddie, who was friendly and attentive and called her manager over to speak to us. We showed the manager the entrée and asked if she saw any staffing. She admitted that the stuffing was limited, - we said it is none existent, but she attacked us and rudely told us that this is how it came, and her attitude was this is it. I tried to explain to her that the menu specifically said that it was topped with crab meat stuffing, she basically said too bad, this is how it comes. We paid for the food and left.

Please do not order this entrée as it is not as advertised. And the manager was so rude that you do not want her to spoil an evening out. There are so many great restaurants in St Augustine, don' t go to a place where you will be disrespected and treated so poorly. Stay away try somewhere else. You can have a beautiful night out, just not here.

To the management, your restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was superb, your servers are wonderful, but your manager is absolutely horrific. Her attitude will ensure that new customers...

Title: "Potential Greatness, Thwarted by Long Wait Times" Rating: ★★★☆☆ I had the opportunity to stop by Schooner’s Seafood Restaurant today, attracted by its promising reputation for stellar seafood and excellent service. Unfortunately, I was met with a 45-minute wait, which was far more than I had anticipated or had time for. As I entered, I was immediately greeted by a busy, bustling atmosphere, suggesting its popularity among locals and visitors alike. However, despite the lively energy and the inviting aromas wafting from the kitchen, the extensive wait time forced me to leave without sampling the food. While it was disappointing not being able to dine there, it's important to acknowledge that the long wait times are indicative of the restaurant's popularity and potentially high-quality food. I would recommend either planning ahead for potential wait times or trying to visit during off-peak hours. Overall, Schooner’s left an impression of potential greatness, yet the experience was unfortunately marred by long wait times on this visit. I hope to return someday to taste the seafood and experience the service that others rave about.

Hello everyone I hope this meets everyone well…. I’d like to share my experience here. After we got seated (which was fairly quick for a Friday evening) We were waited on and all went accordingly. Little did I know this would not be the case for long…. While ordering I was denied twice…. Once for wanting a chicken sandwich (which I understand it was dinner hours and that was on the lunch menu) but the other is inexcusable… I was denied Caesar dressing WHATTTT!!!😨 I was with my girlfriend and was beyond embarrassed. You may think it stops here, but it doesn’t. One would call it intermission but let me tell you intermission does not get this entertaining. While waiting for our food, not one but two waiters dropped glassware. The second drop happened 3 feet from me and I got squirted. Coleslaw to the face🤮 I’m not on here to bash any restaurants and when the food ended up coming out it was delightful. The fruit cup was straight from a can, but the buns on the burgers were buttery. Overall if you’re looking for free entertainment while waiting on your delicious dish I’d stop by and give it a try! Thanks!
