Normally I would give Seminole Grill a higher rating . The food is very good, however I had a terrible experience with a terrible bartender. I wanted to pay my bill but for about 20 minutes she was talking to a couple, in my opinion ,friends, as I kept waiting for her to at least glance around. After waiting and staring at her, I went over very nicely and said “ I don’t want to interrupt your conversation but I would like to pay the bill, plus I have a question. This is where things went wrong. Instead of saying “ I apologize for the wait let me get someone to help you or she just do her job, she PUT ON THIS SMIRK, turned around and said to the other bartender “ Will you take this I’m right in the middle of taking an order, as she is looking at me like see I can do anything I want attitude . She outright LIED about being in the middle of taking an order and that SMIRK AND LOOK and lack of caring really hit me the wrong way!!! I grabbed back my bill and said “you are not going to hand me off with a complete lie. And I proceeded to storm out. I was so upset at this blatant lie and rudeness, it got the best of me. I should have just went to the manager, Barbara, who is very nice and let her handle this inappropriate person. I left so upset, it ruined my whole evening. People should not be allowed to be so smug and rude to customers just trying to pay. I do want to note, I do there for dinner and we spend a lot of money, just the crab alone, to pick on, we pay $150.00 . Then order a bottle of wine and dinner plus dessert . I was a good customer. To sum this up, I paid full price and had a 20% plus tip in cash in the folder. I feel they should have given a gift card for the upsetment, so I might come back or at least give my tip back as this person did not deserve it. It was not the price it was the way things happened that really got the best of me. I didn’t wanna give them anything for ruining my night. I met the owner and his wife on a plane and realized we were from the same area and knew a lot of the same people, I do have his private number, but decided the manager, Barbara, should handle this so he is not bothered over...
Read moreMy husband and I went to Seminole Reef Grill for dinner this evening. Clue one that we should have left was at the hostess stand- the hostess actively tried to convince us of all the reasons why we should sit at the sushi bar vs a table. She should have just stated that our waitress (Rose, Rosie?) was swamped and shouldn’t take another table. Foolishly, we opted for the table.
Rosie came by and gave us a bottle of water to which we poured in our own glasses. She told us that she would be back soon. It was not soon. We had to flag her down after watching her tend to a table of four men, clear two empty tables, and scoot about without checking on her other tables.
When she finally came by, we gave her our full order. I’m not sure if the technology is new or if she was just flustered, but ordering itself seemed like quite a difficult task.
We ordered the blue sushi roll, beet salad, swordfish medium well and the potato crusted snapper. Everyone seemed clear,
The blue sushi roll came out just moments later- yay! The rice wasn’t sticky, but it was good and I would order again. Before we were even half way done with the roll, the salad came. Not a big deal, but timing seemed off. I would like to say that our salad was good, but I had one bite before our entrees came and the bus boy was at the table to clear the obviously uneaten salad.
The swordfish was completely raw. When my husband requested it be cooked to the temperature he requested, the gentleman who took it said “so you want it medium rare” - indicating that it was so rare that medium rare would have been an improvement. My potato crusted snapper was so covered and completely drenched in the Mayo-consistency dressing, it was inedible.
We requested the check to leave, again by having to flag down the waitress. They offered a gift card, which we left at the restaurant as we won’t be returning. The whole ordeal took about 20 minutes, most of which was spent waiting. It was an experience that felt rushed and lacking on...
Read moreDecided to go on Mother's Day eve dinner despite reading a few rough reviews. We realized it was brand new and my husband and I both being in food service in a previous life, we were OK with that. We arrived at 5PM and they were kind enough to seat us without a reservation but next time we absolutely will make one! They were busy FAST!
We were promptly seated (there were six of us, two kids) and greeted by Chelsea. She was kind and attentive and answered a ton of our questions! I was the only one who got a mixed drink and it was fine. It was a bourbon drink but nothing fancy (had to ask for the forgotten cherries!). My friend Toni had ceviche and indicated it was the best she had ever eaten and she lived in Japan! My son and I had two sushi rolls and they were winners. I can't wait to go back for date night and sit at the sushi bar! Also purchased were two fish tacos (FOUR in each order) and a burger/fries which my daughter loved and I also had the beet salad. It was TO DIE FOR! I would definitely get it again! The goat cheese was layered in between the beets and served over microgreens and a delicious dressing.
Our experience was great. We were a little cramped b/c six people were crammed into a booth but we got it. What if we stayed too long and took over a table for peopole who had reservations! The food was spectacular, Chelsea was great and they were accommodating even without reservations. It was loud but not TOO loud for us. It immediately was busy though when the doors opened! I am so looking forward to going back with the hubs to explore the menu further! Welcome to the neighborhood...
