Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Florida

One of the worst Steak 'n Shake's I've ever been to. My husband and I walked in around 10pm, 4 tables were occupied with one finished and ready to leave.

We should have turned around as soon as we saw the 4 or so waiters chatting away behind the service area where drinks are prepared and multiple tables covered with dirty dishes.

Our waitress, Jessica M. brought us to our seat and barely acknowledged our existence after that - to bring our food and food. She didn't even ask us if we wanted drinks.

We were basically ready to order after 1 minute and waited for someone to ask us what we wanted to drink. The lead server came as asked if we had been helped with our drinks, I said no. She then had another waiter help us who asked us again if we had been helped, Jessica M, stopped him and said I got it.

She came by with lukewarm water and asked us if we were ready to order. We did. Every action she took from her vacant expression to her walk seemed to be made under extraordinary effort. Maybe she was in some type of physical pain -- if that was the case she really should have called out, she wasn't doing anyone any favors.

After we ordered, I could see the state of the back -- dirty dishes and cups pile high...I doubt two people in 2 hours could catch up to the amount of dirty dishes they had. We could hear the waiters chatting about everything from who called out - apparently one girl left because she was "on her period", another waiter said, that's not an excuse to call out. As riveting as that story was it would have been nice to hear it while waiting for our food.

We had ordered a milkshake and when Jessica bought it out she bought it in a togo cup which two straws and two spoons...oookkk. My husband asked her why she did that when the other three tables around us had their milkshakes in cups...she said, "We're not doing cups right now" and walked away.

I was ready to get up after that. I'm not sure what her issue with us was considering she barely looked at our direction

When our food came, she said she would bring us a spoon for the beans and never came back.

We left the beans and never touched them. No one ever came by to offer a spoon and we didn't ask. She didn't even come by with our receipt. Sadly, she rang us out if not we would have told the lead server about our experience - there was no manager in sight. We got up, paid and left. We immediately called corporate in the parking lot.

The next morning the General Manager, Sal called and said none of that should have happened. They never put the milkshake in a togo cup for dine in unless requested and they were not short staffed yesterday. The restaurant is actually OVER hours for all the employees lol. I do at least appreciate the General Manager's honesty. While his offer to comp our food is appreciated...I don't think I would ever trust that they would not spit in anything we order, especially if we roll up through drive through and say, "Sal said this is free" lol.

They need to close this location down permanently - keep the cooks or close it down, fire everyone except the cooks and...

This post is getting a very well deserved 2 star rating. The staff at this location is very poorly trained and managed. With only about 4 maybe 5 table taken up we had to wait till they cleared a table for us. Then we had to ask if they still had the 4 for 4. We ordered a 5 way mac , double cheese burger 4 for 4 with apple sauce as our additional side and 2 sweet teas. After waiting about 10 minutes after ordering we had to ask our server Aidan if we could get our drinks . Our server then bring a vegetable soup drops it off and leaves. We never order the soup!. But I figured I'd eat it. After starting to eat the soup I had to get up and go and ask a server at the drink station if I could get some napkins. Finally after waiting some time our drinks come. Then our food arrives. My 5 way mac was ok. The 4 for 4 cheese burger had 1 burnt patty and 1 ok patty. We asked for no onion on the burger but there was onions on it. After almost half way through the meal we ask the sever can we get the rest of the stuff that comes with the 4 for 4 ( the apple sauce and cookie ) had to wait an additional 10 mins for that. So when Aidan decided to come back to the table with the check we asked if we could get a To go cookies and cream milkshake . After waiting to long we were done. We took the check to the cashier and ask where the shake was we were told they have to make it. While waiting for our shake the was a gentleman at the counter that was disgusted that he too has waited over 25 minutes for his to go order he placed. So we finally received the milkshake cookie crumbs all over the outside of the cup ( again I had to ask for napkins to wipe the cup off ). We get out side and take a sip of the shake where are the cookies at? After finishing the shake I'm still trying to figure out where the cookies were in the shake? If you are hungry and want good service go to another Steak and Shake. Just so you know , out of all the reviews I have written this is the worst . Come on clean your act up. The manager in this location should be...

Terrible! If I could give it 0 stars I would! 15 mins before being acknowledged and even a drink order taken! 45 mins into our visit 2 parties came after us got their food and we still hadn't! 55 mins before we finally got our food which by that time one of those parties got theirs and had already finished and left before our food arrived! Terrible management! Wasn't the lack of employees either, there were plenty, just plain chaos with no direction! Had this same situation a couple of years ago and left upset complaining to corporate. Same older manager there this time too. He is more concerned with working the grill than managing, watched him the whole time doing so! He doesn't even talk to upset patrons! He sends the younger guys to deal with the complaints! Oh yeah, watched several tables leave after no service and another waited forever also. That lady was upset too because their food was cold after waiting forever for it. Honestly I don't understand how this citrus park location survives! Summer is the only server that seems to care. We weren't in her section but she apologized multiple times and even encouraged us to call corporate to complain about the manager. If you want the worst service ever then go if not go...
