I’ve not been to Nepal but we really wanted to try the famous Momos! Believe it or not, they are available in north Tampa, they are freshly made, they are super flavorful and delicious and the shop is found in the Citrus Park Mall food court! I kid you not.
What is a Momo? It’s a delicate but sturdy skinned, handmade steamed dumpling filled with flavorful vegetarian, chicken or pork! It comes with nice mild or spicy peanut sauce but, these tasty Momos can stand on their own as well! The sauce is an extra bonus!
They cost around $1 each so they definitely do not break the bank!
I do need to mention that all three styles contain butter and the vegetarian contains paneer in case you happen to be avoiding dairy. The Chai Tea was excellent affording to my wonderful wife but it too contains dairy.
Sangam, working the counter, was engaging, helpful, friendly and full of enthusiasm! Thank you Sangnam for cheerfully answering many questions. Awesome you were born in Nepal and can help bring the wondrous flavors from your homeland here for us all to try!

Read moreHonestly it’s hard to believe food this good is inside of a mall food court!! Seriously the best momos we’ve had. It’s healthy too because the dumplings are steamed. We tried both veg and chicken. God bless them for offering a meal w halal chicken for our Muslim brothers and sisters. The girl who helped us was so sweet. Their mint chutney was refreshing as it wasn’t blended smooth, they left it chunky — so good. Mango lassi was loaded with cardamom, it was also thinner (most lassis are made too thick and sweet)… definitely the most authentic mango lassi in Tampa Bay!! Chai didn’t need sweetener because the milk was cooked down. The samosas were not greasy at all. We spent $30 for two — a Himalayan combo, and a large chicken Momo bowl. Very well spent and pricing is more than reasonable. We will stop by again next time we have to go...
Read moreLet's be honest, mall food courts aren't typically a destination for authentic flavor, but The Momo Spot is the exception that completely proves the rule. I was genuinely blown away by the quality here.
The classic steamed momos are expertly made, with delicate wrappers and a juicy, savory filling. But the fried momos are a must-try-a fantastic texture contrast that takes it to another level. The samosas are textbook-perfect: golden, crispy, and packed with a savory, well-spiced filling without being greasy. To top it off, they pull off a genuinely great cup of chai-warm, aromatic, and tasting like it was actually brewed with care.
I originally came to the mall for to shop, but now I'll be manufacturing excuses to return. My trips have never been...
