Tandoor Indian Cuisine, 6300 N. Wickham Rd. Melbourne, FL 32940 3- Stars Many people take up golf upon retirement, while others shuffleboard at a retirement village (gestures at the entire state). What did I do? I took it upon myself to provide unadulterated food reviews for the Space Coast of FL at no charge to you, the reader. I’m just that kind of guy. Since I didn’t have a tee time, I tended to lounge around a bit, wrapped snugly in the family counterpane. However, the name generator told me it was time to get to work. Dislodging myself from the spread, I grabbed my keys and headed north to the Pineda Causeway (thereby putting going OTB off for as long as feasibly possible). Just north of the Causeway on Wickham Road sits the Indian Buffet Restaurant, Tandoor Indian Cuisine. Call me “late to the party,” but I had no idea we had two Indian restaurants in the county, let alone the four I found out now exist. For a comparison, this one is the Walmart of Indian Restaurants so far reviewed. The entire service staff is Vietnamese, the kitchen was 100% Mexican and the owner was Indian. Not one word of English was heard nor spoken. If they put in self-serve checkout, you would have Walmart. Our service pro today was a Vietnamese chap going by the name of Llama. As Llama’s English skills were on par with my Vietnamese skills, we worked out a point-and-grunt method of ordering that went without a hitch. How hard is it to understand “The Buffet”? This Indian buffet was filled with the ever-present and famous Tandoori chicken, butter chicken, sang, and warm naan, along with several vegetarian dishes in various curries. I never once in a million years would have guessed I would be reviewing and comparing Indian restaurants in Bree-vard County, FL. But, as the man said, “The times, they are a-changin’.” The Big Boy says, “There are better Indian buffets around; however if you are stuck in Suntree with the cold sweats for an adequate curry, stop in.”

Nothing short of phenomenal. Went in with the party of Three for an early dinner. Decided to introduce some friends to Indian cuisine. Outside looks very unassuming, but upon entering the restaurant looks like many four and five star restaurants that I visited. The staff is equally as attentive! (Huge marks there) The appetizers were fantastic, we got the mixed pakora. Which normally I don't like anything vegetarian, but quickly found myself munching through the veggie option. The taste was marvelous I can't even put my finger on what it compares to. Right after the appetizers came so did my chai tea, which please someone give me the recipe to that! I need to have that at my house haha. For the main course we ordered butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, and vegetarian biryani. The butter chicken was so rich with flavor, I've had butter chicken from all around the country now and this has been the best by far. The tikka masala was equally as good, had just the right amount of spice to it. Wasn't too overwhelming, but was not a pushover. The biryani, well that was one dish my friend had troubles finishing due to how spicy it was, not to mention it clearing all of our sinuses lol. All in all I have to say that was one of the best dining experiences I've had in the last 5 years. In that time I visited thousands of restaurants around the country. The fact that this one has been sitting in my backyard this entire time, and that I did not know about it makes me sad, but equally excited. This makes me happy because I will always have this option whenever I come home! I look forward to eating there again, I'm trying to get that chai tea recipe off your hands lol.

Unique flavors achieved by use of authentic seasoning and perfectly cooked dishes. My wife and I split the grilled meat platter and a vegetable rice dish, great combination! Both were prepared perfectly, meat was marinated, grilled and very moist. White and dark meat chicken, small lamb chops and shrimp covered in grilled onions. Rice seasoned and tasty with chunks of carrots, cauliflower …. I could identify several spices, cardamon, fennel of course curry…We ordered our dish “mild”, it had plenty of seasoning but not too spicy hot. On a previous visit we ordered medium and it lit us up, I like hot wings but their medium made me sweat. We also each had a glass of wine with our meal that helped tame the heat. The restaurant is clean but not really “formal”. They have a lot of take out business so that somewhat has an effect on the atmosphere, people coming and going while you dine. I feel the food could be severed in a high end restaurant but the setting is not. Look around and it could be remolded, repaired and updated. The prices are very fair, the two dishes cost just over $30 and we had to go boxes for 2 more meals at home.

Wow! The best Indian food in Florida this side of India. Tandoor on Wickham Rd in Melbourne, Florida has the best Indian cuisine that you could ever eat in the state of Florida or in the United States in general. If you have not been to tandoor, you are missing out if you love Indian food. It is the best most tasty and they take care of you if you want to do Low to high spicy case. It is the only restaurant that I can eat at that does not hurt my intestinal condition that I have that allows me to not eat other food, but this is a very tasty place. I also want to say that Dan, the owner chef And quite delightful happy human being is always there to serve you to make sure that everything is OK and that you are enjoying your food is a wonderful place and I enjoy coming here. I must also remark on the cleanliness. It is the cleanest restaurant that I have ever been to a very upscale restaurant to bring any friend or family or guest to enjoy a relaxing case e-meal. With a beautiful clean decor. If you have not been to tandoor, please do yourself a favor and enjoy. There are not many restaurants in Melbourne Florida that offer such a wonderful cuisine And tasty in every bite. Thank you, Dan and your staff for making it such a pleasurable experience....
