The Philadelphian Port Charlotte: It took me a while to get up there as it is a little bit of a hike from where I live. I always wanted to get to this place as I heard it's one of the best sub shops in the area. We walked in on a Friday near 12 noon and boy was this place busy. Luckily we found 1 table that was empty but shortly after there was a line out the door for orders. Even though the place was maxed out busy it was very clean and organized. We did order our subs and French fries fairly fast. I ordered the 12 inch Italian Sub with fries. My wife ordered the ham sub with fries also. I figured it would take an hour to get our food but it came out in a reasonable time. Still all the tables were filled and the line was smaller than outside the door. The sub I got was unbelievably good. It tasted fresh and I looked at the innards, the lettuce and tomatoes were all fresh even the bread was fresh. My wife's sub was the same way we both loved our subs. The French fries were good and not burnt or cold. I barely got my entire sub and fries eaten as it was a lot of food for one person. My wife had to get a box to take her leftovers home. If this place was near where I lived I would be over there ordering a lot of subs. Next time there I want to try the cheese steak as they looked amazing. If you're in the area you must stop by this place and try it you will not be sorry. I give this place a 4 out of 5 thumbs up. if I could give it a 4.5 I would. Like Arnold said I'll be back and boy I can't wait.

Read moreUsually my experience is good, but today was really weird. Only one person working the counter and the kitchen today. I was semi rushed ordering my food (ok, maybe the young man was overwhelmed) Young man rang up my charge and asked if I wanted a receipt. I said No and he asked how much of a tip. I told him $2. He said he'll write it in and I said I want a receipt. He walked away and started to make my food and did not fill in the tip. Hmmmm. The open receipt was on the counter and I used his pen and filled in the receipt and $2 tip and signed it. The young man got mad at me and said he would have written the tip in and I told him its my money and its my responsibility to fill it in. He was muttering words under his breath cooking my food and looked at me while cooking and asked me if I was ok. Huh? im thinking. Again I responded it's my money and I have every right to fill out the tip on the receipt and sign it. He continued to cook my food slamming the spatula and whatever else he could make noise with and got my food together, put it on the counter and I said Thank you and he still contiunued to mutter something under his breath. I left. I got home to find out that the burnt food that gets stuck to the grill was mixed in through out my food. I still don't understand why this young man was so upset that he did not get to fill out the tip, when I decided it was my responsibility and my money and that I have every right to have this transacation completed before I leave. To change the way my food is prepared is NOT GOOD for business! If done to me , I'm sure its done to...
Read moreMy husband had been wanting to stop by here since we found the place, and we finally got a chance to!
When we got there, at 5:30pm on a Monday, the parking lot was empty. Like complete ghost town. I told hubby I didn't know if anything was open. He wasn't going to miss his chance to get a good cheesesteak, so he went and tried the door anyway. Don't tell him, but I'm so glad he didn't listen to me!
Hubby ordered a cheesesteak sandwich with mushrooms, onions, peppers, and cheese. He ordered one of the premade ones off the menu. I, on the other hand, got what I always get when going to a new sandwich shop...the Italian. Hubby told them to make exactly the way it's supposed to come.
Let's start with hubby's cheesesteak. He said it was really good. He'd order it again. The steak was cooked perfectly. The veggies were cooked well, and not soggy. And the cheese was an excellent addition! (He's a man of few words.)
And now, the best Italian sandwich I've had in several years. OMG. The dressing ratio to bread to meat to veggies was perfect. It wasn't too soggy. It wasn't dry. The four different kinds of peppers added some heat, sweet, and tang. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, and delicious. I mean, my mouth is watering just writing this. If you're a fan of Italian subs, then you will not be disappointed with this no fuss, no frills, straight up old school sandwich...
