This diner is made out to be something out of NY with its wall coverings of several famous NY landmarks. The menu is even described with items you would typically find in NY, like matzoh brei and potatoe latkas. But from my one visit and asking, the owner is not from NY. Still, the food was quite good. My wife ordered a veggie omellete (huge) that had fresh peppers, mushrooms and what was likely jarred artichoke hearts on top. She asked for some optional matzarella cheese which was just lightly sprinkled on top. It came with a side of perfectly seasoned home fried potatoes. She also had a biscuit as her bread choice. She liked it all. I thought the biscuit was very small and pressed flat on the griddle, not my preference, but tasted fine. I had the Square combo with scrambled eggs, French toast and bacon. All were very good and tasty. The two very thick slices of bacon tasted great, but one was almost entirely fat, so I could not eat much of that slice. The coffee served and topped off frequently was very good for a diner. All in all a very good meal with plenty of left over to take home. Service was friendly and pleasant. I just wish, this time of the year, they had some heat on inside. It was a bit chilly eating inside. We plan to be back again when in the area. Per response from owner, they are from NY. Not sure why the waitress we had said otherwise. I was just going by what I was told. Sorry and glad to know now.

First visit - came with family and friends a little after noon on Sunday. Definitely a busy time for them, but we were seated immediately and they put a couple of tables together since we had more than 4 in the group. Menu had good variety of choices, and I liked being able to have breakfast items after noon. I had spotted the Sunday Special (Spinach Pie) and the Galaktoboureko dessert on the menu online and was really looking forward to trying them, but neither was available when we were there. Not deducting anything from the score for that - both are very labor intensive dishes and if you go at Sunday lunch rush, there’s going to be a good chance that they just don’t have them. Would still be interested in trying them, so might see if that’s something you can call ahead and reserve… But the food I did end up ordering was the Greek omelette. (See photo). This is a massive dish of food! The eggs maintained a very nice fluffy consistency, and was moist and evenly cooked. Potatoes were also cooked to perfection, with good portion size and subtle seasoning. There was enough to get a take home box for breakfast next day. I did see several other things that looked interesting for future visits, look forward to exploring other dishes!

My review from two years ago..... Excellent menu. Large portions. The Carnegie Style pastrami sandwich is great. Updated two years later........... Food is still good. Staff is very nice. My wife's chef salad was large and fresh. She enjoyed it very much and is excited about finishing the rest for lunch tomorrow. My daughter's burger was big and cooked nicely. She ate most of it, then ran out of room. My Carnegie Style pastrami sandwich was good, as always, but as someone who has ordered this sandwich at least five times, I can say with complete certainty that it is getting smaller and smaller and smaller. I know what Carnegie Deli serves. I lived in NJ and worked in NYC. This used to be piled high with 3-4" of meat. That's why I've always ordered it, but over the years, the amount of meat has consistently gotten smaller and now, it is really no thicker than a regular deli sandwich. My daughter was making fun of how her burger was way bigger than my huge Carnegie style sandwich. It's still a good sandwich, but for $17.25, it's a bit small. If the plan is to scale down the amount of meat, I'd drop the whole "Carnegie Style" moniker and reduce the price to $12.95. Just my opinion.

Awful Food, Hostile Owner – We Left Shocked and Furious

We came in hungry and left angry. We ordered the chicken marsala and chicken scampi, both with added shrimp, and the experience quickly unraveled.

The scampi sauce was curdled and bland — more like pasty, unsalted garlic mush with only the faintest hint of wine. No lemon, no flavor, and not remotely like a proper scampi. I gave up after a few bites and switched to my one pancake, which was dry and forgettable.

The marsala pasta tasted like soap, and the entire dish was so under-seasoned that my husband had to salt every single bite — something he’s never had to do in his life.

And the shrimp? Nearly inedible. Overcooked, extremely rubbery, reddish-brown, tightly curled, and so tough we struggled to cut them with a steak knife, let alone chew them.

We sent just the shrimp back, hoping to salvage the meal — especially since I’m pregnant and we were both starving. But the remake was even worse.

Then it went from bad to outrageous.

The owner/chef came out to ask what was wrong with the shrimp. He said he’d personally cooked them and wanted to know why we still didn’t like it. We explained — politely — that the second batch was even harder to chew than the first and that properly cooked shrimp should be pink, not reddish-brown and rubbery.

That’s when he snapped:

“Don’t tell me how to cook. This is the freshest shrimp out there. I cooked it perfectly. This is how I always cook them.”

We weren’t being rude. We simply stated the facts — and told him we’re both professional chefs. He rolled his eyes, huffed, angrily dismissed us like we were idiots, and stormed off into the kitchen, throwing his hands in the air — no apology, no accountability.

By then, we hadn’t even touched the rest of our food. We were so disgusted and angry at his childish, hostile behavior, we decided to leave and asked our waitress for the check.

But before the waitress could even bring it, the owner yelled at the waitress from across the kitchen that there would be no charge for our food — aggressive and completely unprovoked.

We never asked for free food. We didn’t demand anything. But we were treated like garbage by someone who clearly can’t handle honest feedback and has no business speaking to paying customers that way.

The only bright spot? Our server was phenomenal — kind, professional, and clearly doing her best in a terrible situation. She is the ONLY reason I'm giving 5 stars for the service. We tipped her generously because none of this was her fault. We paid for our drinks and walked out immediately.

Avoid this place at all costs. The food was bad, the attitude was worse, and no one deserves to be treated that way over a...

I've been here twice so far and my better experience was actually better when I came for breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, they only serve their breakfast items during breakfast and lunch time. I was informed by my waiter that the kitchen is not large enough to handle serving serving breakfast food during dinner time. So to start off with my first experience here, it was definitely a five-star experience. I got the breakfast sandwich on a bagel and it came out perfectly. The waitresses were all very nice and the food came out pretty quickly considering that they were busy when we got there. The atmosphere of the place is very nice. They really remodeled and there's a lot of marble all over the place. Also, make sure to look up at the ceiling at the stars and galaxies (you'll get what I when you come here!). Unfortunately, my second experience here, which was for dinner, was not as good which led me to make this a 4-star review. I would say that at most the place had half the tables full at any given time when I was here. The first negative was that I was planning on getting my breakfast sandwich again but when I ordered I was then told that breakfast was not served during dinner time. I was annoyed by that because they have one menu for everything and it does not say that breakfast isn't served during dinner time. And also, it's a diner, isn't the point of a diner is to have breakfast all day? I ended up getting the hummus and pita bread appetizer and the grilled cheese and a side of fries for my main meal. The issue with the hummus is that they give so much hummus but then I feel not enough pita bread. Then with my grilled cheese I specifically asked for cheddar cheese instead of American cheese but I'm 90% sure it still tasted like American. The side of fries I got I must say were very good though. Also, the person who I was with ordered the veal Parmesan (they have some Italian items on the menu) but ended up getting the chicken Parmesan. Getting the chicken instead of the veal was the waiter's fault because the receipt said chicken. I also want to clarify that the waiter was at no time mean, nor was any staff member mean at either time I've eaten here so far. I must say though that the waiter kept having to apologize to us and all the other tables he had for random things like maybe he forgot to bring extra napkins, he forgot what you ordered and needed to come back to confirm, etc. To end on a positive note, they have a large selection of desserts. After dinner we had the cheesecake drizzled with chocolate syrup. That was great and they don't mess around with the size...

I haven't been to Melbourne in years but I had to run up there so I took my neighbor and after numerous times of getting lost because my GPS did not have all the new areas that Melbourne has added, I found where I was going. It was them that suggested this restaurant which was basically across the street and they figured I could find it LOL. As you pull up you are greeted by a 6 ft chef statue outside which was adorable and as we entered we were greeted by first one hostess and a waitress very pleasantly. You received it in a very comfortable booth, the place was immaculate, decorated in New York bock a brack and I will with the New York skyline. The menu goes on and on forever. I think they had everything in the world possibly that they could list listed on there and some of the things that you would never think of was listed on there. We were there around 1:30 so it was still breakfast and lunch menu only but my neighbor had seen something in the dinner part and the waitress offered to ask cook if he would prepare it but we declined and stuck to the menu. I decided on breakfast and ordered the Cinnamon French toast with bacon and my neighbor ordered the Italian sub. When they arrived they were enough to feed two people each. They were warm they had a wonderful taste and presented nicely. Our waitress made sure she kept an eye on us and made sure we had everything we needed. At first look at the menu I thought the prices were a little steep but having partake in their menu the prices were just right. The only confusing part about the restaurant was I was expecting background music of the songs New York, New York, or show tunes but it was country western. Not bad country western not loud country western but country western. As we were leaving we were greeted by a very nice gentleman who again made sure we had a enjoyable meal. And talking with him and him telling us about his restaurant he was explaining how he was also involved in his community and had run for office and was planning on running again, I told him that we were not from the area but if I was living there I would vote for him and I would definitely come back (I plan on going back anyhow and taking other friends with me to experience this diner) as this is what we need more of good food, friendly people, nice atmosphere, and somebody that's involved in...
