We visited Trattoria Mia on a Friday night. The hostess apologized and told us the wait was 20 minutes. The enticing fragrances coming from the kitchen convinced us to stay--it was a good decision.
The menu has something for most with a selection of pasta dishes, individual pizzas, secondis (the meat course served after the pasta or starch course in a traditional Italian meal), risotto, and the requisite antipasti, soups, salads, sides, and desserts. (The menu notes that risottos will take 45 minutes.)
We started by sharing Zucchini E Calamari Fritti. The calamari was tender and tasty, the zucchini was fresh and finished to a just-right doneness, the breading was deep-brown crunchy. The dipping sauce had the bright-sweet acid flavor of fresh tomato blended with the hearty goodness of long-and-slow simmered tomato sauce; a great balance.
I ordered Carbonara made with penne. (You have a choice of spaghetti, linguini, angel hair, bowtie, penne, or rigatoni with most of the pasta dishes.) Salty, meaty, perfectly sauteed pancetta in a creamy, cheesy, white sauce showcased a superb al-dente pasta.
She ordered Tortelloni Di Manzi. A delicate meat stuffing graced stuffed pasta (tortelloni is like tortellini only larger) enrobed in a butter-sage sauce. After tasting, I believe I could eat at Trattoria Mia every-other day even if this was the only item on the menu. The delicate flavor of the veal, enhanced by the butter, with high-notes hummed by the sage, was a concerto on a plate.
Dessert was Tiramisu and Torta Di Cioccolato. The Tiramisu was airy with a good balance of sweet cocoa and coffee. The chocolate cake was typical but served slightly warmed. (I’ll order the Tiramisu next time we have dessert.) Cappuccino for her, espresso for me. The espresso wasn’t to my taste. I don’t know if it was the beans or how it was pulled, but it tasted like brewed coffee.
It turned out that the hostess was co-owner Claudia Bollo. Her sister, Chef Loredana Bolla, is the other co-owner. Both stopped at our table. The Bollas’ skill and their culinary love shows in everything they do here. Our server, Debbie, was knowledgeable and attentive.
We’re looking forward to returning and trying everything on the menu! Trattoria Mia will be a regular...
Read moreLet me preface this by saying that I LOVE Italian cuisine, so I tend to eat out & choose Italian food as a dinner choice frequently. Obviously choosing this restaurant as tonight’s option was a mistake. This was my first time coming in & it completely ruined my experience. The bread that came out was great, but the drinks was where it all started. Our server asked what we would like to drink, my sister asks for a Shirley Temple & the server lets her know that they don’t offer that. How do you have a bar in your restaurant but don’t serve a frequently ordered drink? We ordered sweet teas instead… and the server brings out unsweet teas & sugar packets. Why wouldn’t you let us know that the sweet tea doesn’t come sweet in the first place. So as my sister & I are sitting here attempting to mix in sugar packets we look at the menu. We both ordered the Lasagna & Chicken Alfredo. The wait wasn’t bad, but watching our server flirt with the busser while waiting for our food was just hard to watch. We started eating our food & it tasted like something out of a can & overall just gross. Like I said, I’ve tried hundreds of Italian dishes, especially Chicken Alfredo & this one was just terrible. We had to sit for at least 10 minutes to wait for the server to acknowledge us so we can leave as she’s obviously too distracted with something else (busser)… When we finally get her attention, we explain the situation & she gets the manager or owner and they all start talking about us & how we complained about the food. Sorry but I’m not going to pay for service that was barely even service & definitely not going to pay for a meal that tastes bad. Not sure if we caught these people on an off day or what but the service on top of the taste of the food is just something I can’t get...
Read moreI wanted to share a truly amazing dining experience my husband and I recently discovered, one that has completely captivated us. About a couple of months ago, my husband stumbled upon a charming restaurant called Trattoria Mia, and from our very first visit, it has proven to be an absolute treasure. The moment you step through their doors, you are immediately enveloped in an atmosphere of genuine warmth and enthusiasm. The staff greets you with such heartfelt friendliness, it instantly makes you feel welcome. The service at Trattoria Mia is nothing short of exceptional. Our server, Manni, consistently goes above and beyond, treating us with a level of care and personalized attention that makes us feel like family. His attentiveness and genuine warmth are truly a statement of impeccable service. And then, there's the food. It is, without a doubt, the most authentic and exquisitely tasting Italian cuisine we have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. What sets Trattoria Mia apart is its consistency; we've now had the pleasure of dining there three times, and each visit has been as flawless and delightful as the last. I honestly cannot praise Trattoria Mia enough. If you're searching for an unforgettable Italian meal, coupled with a truly welcoming ambiance, I urge you to visit. It’s an experience that you will truly enjoy and definitely have...
