I love coming here because every night when I do come the overnight crew is very attentive. There has yet to be a night when I have gone to Waffle House and felt like the employee or employees did not care about being there or care about the customers. What is even more surprising is that some of the nights that I have gone to eat at the waffle house or meet someone. The music that has been playing I thought was always coming from the Jukebox, yet instead it turns out that the employees are spending their own money by playing it off on their phone whether it be from music they've downloaded to what ever type of source. Where I come from when employees as far as servers are willing to spend their own money to make sure that their customers can have nice music to listen to speaks a lot about their level of customer service. Now I know everyone has heard of the following seen at some point in their life. " Don't judge a person until you have walked a mile in their shoes", and my own father said that phrase so much that I thought he created it. A very true phrase if there ever was one, and that is why I have so much respect for individuals who choose to do jobs like being a waiter or waitress. So many times at different restaurants that I go to throughout the days of the year, and what I end up seeing on very many occasions brings me to tears. The level to which I have seen individuals mistreat waiters and waitresses is unfathomable, and so many times I've wanted to take those individuals and put them in a situation so they would experience the same exact type of treatment that they are showing to those servers. As I stated before I have a high level of respect for any person who chooses to for any length of time work as a waiter or waitress! I have worked in the tiping positions myself so my respect is real. My father had a saying; if you have the money to go out and eat you have the money to leave a tip regardless of how bad your service may be and if you cannot or choose to not leave a tip then in truth you did not have the money to go out and eat to begin with! Contrary to the society's current belief waiters and waitresses out of all of the tipped positions in reality make the smallest amount of money. Regardless of that servers situation outside of work they have bills just like you do and their financial situation can be just as difficult as yours. I have my own code that I live by when it comes to waiters and waitresses " no matter how bad my experience of customer service maybe the smallest amount of tip that I will leave is a dollar". When I go out in a group of friends the first thing that I do is I asked everyone to please put a dollar on the center of the table and I collect that and I make sure that the server gets a proper tip every time, and that is a Cree that I encourage you all to live by. After all we are to treat others exactly the way we want to be treated ourselves. Meaning if we want to be treated with the utmost respect by others then we need to first give everyone else are utmost respect to them. Remember the next time you go out and eat should you choose to treat your waiter or waitress with disrespect that individual will remember the experience very vividly, and may choose the next time you come in and that individual has to be your server. He or she may choose to give you the same exact the same level of respect that you showed them and in reality give you one of the worst experiences you've ever had. Back in the 90s I believe was a movie called "Waiting", and if you have never seen that movie I suggest you do for this movie really does show what some servers will do to their customers meals for the mistreatment that you have shown them. Because of that Cree I go by when it comes to tipping the servers at the restaurants I go to now honestly know that if I leave a single dollar at the table that waiter or waitress will stop me before I get out of the door to ask me what they had done wrong that so that next time I come in it will be a more...
Read moreAfter another night in the dark, another hard day of hopelessly trying to keep clean a stale house that faintly smelled of a swamp, clearing out sticks, and leaves, waiting 2 hours in a line for gas just to get turned away… we felt so defeated. And like a beacon of hope, this Waffle House sign glowed.
I walked in like a Raggedy Anne, asked if they were serving a full menu, it was a limited menu and the nicest server I ever had (I’m kicking myself for not remembering his name) smiled brightly and cheerfully at me and handed me a paper menu I took to the car my partner and I looked over. Obviously it was a no brainer and we haven’t had a hot meal in awhile. We came in and sat, immediately served the best coffee, ordered our food that came out beautiful, delicious, and impossibly fast. Our server was slight in build, young man with blonde hair, with a nose ring that suited him quite well. He was just as much a beacon of light that the Waffle House sign was. He chatted with us, and quickly we were smiling too, and felt human again. We had a few cups of coffee, he had one too. They were not super busy, but busy. He came in and checked on us at the perfect time every time. This was the turning point of feeling hopeless in the after math of the storm. After we shared a few stories, laughed, and enjoyed being able to look at our phones (we had no signal at our house) we graciously paid, and tipped. I wish I had more to give. Because he did more than just serve us amazing food with amazing service. He changed our whole outlook on life and what it has given us. We walked out with the little bell also cheerfully chiming as we exited. Our heads higher, hearts lighter. Thank you Waffle House. The teamwork this establishment shares is unmatched. I encourage everyone to share this experience. Whether it be one of the worst days of your life, or...
Read moreNot one to usually complain, but my visit today needs a review. I hardly eat out for breakfast but when I do I like to go to the Waffle House on Ulmerton (which has always been great), but today I was passing by the one on Missouri so went there instead. And I regretted it - the place was a mess (I have pictures to prove it) there was napkins, wrappers, liquid & food on almost every table & the floors. The server who waited on me barely acknowledged me when taking my order, the cook was sweeping behind the counter and when the server told the cook my order she said "when I'm done". I went to the bathroom & came out to see the server sitting at a table reading. An older couple walked in - they looked at the tables closet to the doors then went to the other side, probably thinking maybe the other tables would be cleaner, but they were not - the couple was there for all of 5 minutes before they left, one has to assume because the place was dirty with rude employees???? Just my opinion. The cook slammed pans around, was on looking at her phone then finished my food & left the kitchen area. My "medium" bacon was too crispy to eat & the "over hard" fried eggs I asked for were runny, I didn't eat the potatoes or toast because by then I was just over the whole experience. I tried talking to the server as she was ringing me up then again when she was putting the bag together but was met with one word answers so I smiled left a tip & got out of there then dumped the bag in the nearest trash can & had McDonald's for breakfast - served with a smile & cooked the right way. Seriously I read the reviews on here & I wish I had as good experience, but it was really bad. Hope someone pays attention to these posts. Sorry for the rant, I would rather have had a nice...
