Our daughter decided she wanted Wendy's for lunch Saturday, July 5, 2025. We stopped for lunch at the Racetrack location around 130pm. We dined inside. Not busy inside, but a couple of cars in the drive thru.
When we entered an elderly woman was just finishing her order at the counter. A young gentleman with braces (Rayquan according to my receipt) was helping her. She ordered a tea with her meal and was given a cup to use at the all-in-one drink machines that are all the rage these days.
Sadly, it was NOT all the rage for the elderly woman, who didn't understand how it worked. She kind of hollered that she couldn't find the tea dispenser and so he immediately went over and took the time to explain how the drink machine worked and how it had replaced the tea dispensers. He was clear on explaining it and explained it at her pace. With kindness and empathy. Then he returned to get our order.
We were distracted by ourselves while trying to order as we were on a "thrifting spree" and just ready to have lunch. Lots of questions. We don't eat at Wendy's as often as we can, so I was unfamiliar with what came on the Baconator. Got it without mayo. My wife ordered a jr cheeseburger, and he recommended the pick 4 combo. To be fair, we were getting the combo anyway, but he definitely knew his job and asked. My daughter wanted a caramel swirl frosty, and he made sure he was clear on what she wanted, as they have a caramel crunch frosty fusion as well. We got our orders finished up and made our way to the drink machine of endless possibilities.
On the counter to the right just before the drink machine of endless possibilities is a ketchup station. One that could use some help. I struggled like a V8 engine running on two cylinders just to get 2-1/2 souffle cups (none even half full) from two different dispensers before giving up and informing my family that this would be all the ketchup we would have to enjoy because of the issue with the ketchup dispensers.
Hopefully NOT because I didn't know how to use them.
My name was called for our food and I went to pick it up. Thanked Rayquan and he thanked me as well. I got to the table and my wife asked if we could get buffalo sauce. So I went back up. Rayquan had apparently heard her asking and got us a cup before I could ask. He also gave us some packs of ketchup, meaning he likely saw my struggle at the ketchup station and had to save his second senior of the day. I didn't count them, but it was around 6 for two orders of fries. One large and one medium. I would say that is just right. It wasn't like when you go to Taco Bell and they ask if you want sauce, you say no, then have to hire an excavator to remove all the packs from your bag to reach your now wilted, soggy taco. He teated me and my family with respect while taking the order and once we were seated.
At the end of the meal we got up. While my wife and daughter started heading to the exit, I went back to the counter. I wanted to ask the young man his name knowing I would be writing this, but he was taking another order and I thought it would be rude. I didn't want to keep my family waiting so we left. I figured I could add date and time to my review and they would be able to figure it out.
Then the receipt gave me his name so I knew. The food was good. First time having a Baconator. Won't be the last, but no I won't be having it with mayo.
The SERVICE from Rayquan is what made the visit. As an active area restaurant manager, I try to teach everyone around me the importance of making guests feel valued and important. I can't tell you if he actually felt happy about what is possibly his first minimum wage job in the hardest customer-facing profession around. But I can tell you he made me feel like he owned that place and knew my money helped keep it open. In a thankless industry, he works with appreciation.
His work ethic is commendable.
Also, the place was clean. Parking lot is kinda tight. Please fix the ketchup dispensers or put up a sign with visuals to remind me of...
Read moreSo after waiting in drive-thru and not being able to hear the person that was taking my order and struggling through ordering two $5 biggie bags with chicken BLTs for both, I get to the window and cash out. When I asked for my receipt I was informed that their machine isn't working but he could write out my order on a piece of paper for me. I declined because I scan my receipts, so handwritten doesn't really do anything for me. I proceed to drive back to my destination, I got my chicken nuggets-which they were only THREE in both orders-and they were not cold but they were firm and old in both. The fries were hot I'll give them that; and the sandwiches were mediocre and room temperature. I attempted to call and the same muffled voice that took my order answered the phone and then hung up on me so I couldn't even complain and have them make it right!! To add to this abomination, when I reached into my bag for a napkin-I have paper towels. Granted it's better than no napkins, however, there was absolutely no communication between the worker and myself to let me know that they apologize such and such is this instead of what it normally is because of anything. I've worked in food service a majority of my work career so I have a higher standard and expectation when it comes to how I order food and how I'm treated. I will probably never be returning to this location and I'm highly disappointed in the type of customer service and food that I received. I don't normally eat here, and this is a pretty good reiteration as to why. Thanks for taking my money and leaving me hungry and for your subpar service all together I see why there wasn't as many cars in the drive-through as there normally would be at 4:30 in the afternoon; especially on a weekend. You leave much to be imagined and McDonald's still has my vote as number one. If you're interested in changing my review please don't hesitate as I'm in avid reviewer on...
Read moreUpdated review - 2022 Two years since my original review (see below), and I am sad to report that recent orders at this location have been unsatisfactory.
While the staff have never been rude or unpleasant, the quality of the food has declined significantly, and has become very hit or miss overall.
A prime example is the attached photo of my girl's burger and they gave her frying pan scraps instead of full bacon slices. Not cool Wendy's. This is fourth or fifth funky order in the last ten meals. :(
Original review - 2020 The food is fantastic. Best Wendy's in town in my opinion. I've never gotten a distasteful meal at this location.
I did experience an inexplicable wait time today, but due to COVID-19, there is a notice posted about wait times and limited menu options. The employees were professional, however, and apologized for the long wait.
They were all wearing masks... Properly wearing them I might add. Overall good experience here both...
