THIS, my friends, is a DINER.

I told my wife I wanted to eat at a diner for my birthday. She suggested someplace that made breakfast and had burgers, but it was a family restaurant, not a diner.

Those of us who know the difference know what I'm talking about.

I'd heard about FCD in the past and had never had the chance to try their food, so we took in on a Friday around noon. It wasn't crazy at all, and the signs on the wall told us we could expect our food to come out as soon as it was ready, even if that meant that everyone in our party didn't get their food at the same time. Looking at the operation's size, this is largely out of necessity. But also, when your food's hot, it's best.

I ordered a meat lover's skillet, which was a PILE of ingredients on a very large plate—crumbles of sausage, diced ham, bacon crumbles, shredded cheddar, and breakfast potatoes, with 2 PERFECTLY cooked over-medium eggs on top. My wife ordered the pancake sandwich, which is not so much as sandwich as it is 2 huge, fluffy pancakes with a SUPER THICK slab of ham steak between them, and 2 eggs resting on top like a blanket. My wife had to take half of it home, while I packed away every bit of my meal. We also shared a large order of onion rings, which were hot, crunchy, and extremely tasty. Just a light sprinkle of salt, and they were perfect.

Before we even finished, my wife remarked, "We're gonna have to add this to our list of regular places to go."

We also witnessed some of the dishes others were ordering, and one that caught my eye was the Adam's Diner Burger, which featured wonderfully smashed beef patties. Someone else ordered what I could only assume, from the menu, is the Cheese & Cheese Burger, which made both my wife and I salivate.

We noticed some elderly people in the diner when we first pulled up (we're in our early 50s/late 40s), and one thing my wife has always said was that "if old people are eating there, you know the food is good." And boy, was it.

We will definitely be back. Thanks for...

Not a good experience on 5/19/24, at around 1pm

Staffers weren’t friendly (very dry and superficial)

.Waitress (red head with nose piercing) brought out my girlfriends pancakes before any of our other food. This same waitress, then sat down next to us and started filling up bottles of pancake syrup, and never looked at our table again

..What? We sat for 15 minutes with just pancakes on our table, no other food, no utensils. Had to ask another waitress for utensils. Brought my plate out with the wrong meat, then sat another 15 minutes without the rest of my girlfriend’s food. Had to actually ask where her food was. 5 minutes after asking, the rest of her food comes out, MISSING THE HASH-BROWNS!!!! At this point, the initial waitress brings over the hash browns, and states that unfortunately, she’d be leaving early, and another waitress would be taking over. So basically, you neglected our table, because you were in a hurry to leave?
..YIKES!!!!!
..We received “slight” help from what appeared to be a mgr.(only clearing off a couple of empty plates)

.Needless to say, we talked to 4 different waitresses who all seemed too be to busy for us
..Of course, absolutely NO tip was given, and will not be back for, mediocre at best, bland food and shoddy...

We had a disappointing experience here today. Our main complaint was that our food came out all at different times - we came in a group of 4. Part of our meals came out first and we had to wait 10-20 minutes to receive all of our pancakes. I didn’t get my pancakes until we would typically be leaving. We had received our check well before this and everyone else was done eating. I mentioned this to a waiter who called over the manager. She was not apologetic and basically explained that’s how they operate because of the size of their grill and pointed to a sign on the wall I wouldn’t have seen (see photo). The sign was behind me so obviously I didn’t read it. I asked for a discount due to the experience and the manager said no. If our food had come out a few minutes apart, no big deal, but this was a longer wait than should be acceptable/normal. The food was average - my scrambled eggs were overcooked with brown crust on the bottom and the pancakes were a little burnt on the outside but still tasted alright. I would say, if you decide to visit, just know what to expect. I have told people about this diner in the past thinking they would enjoy, but won’t recommend it any more...

It has been about two years since we dined here. We used to eat here at least once a week when it originally opened (15+ years ago), and we lived 1/2 mile away but don't make it back in the area very often. Either way, today's experience was excellent. The service was great. Drinks were refilled when she noticed they were getting low. The food was excellent and crazy inexpensive when compared to other restaurants. I had a slinger (St Louis Original), and my wife had scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon, and my daughter had a cheeseburger with fries. The cheeseburger was 1/2 lb with two slices of cheese for only $6.99. I noticed another great ordered a pancake and it was the largest, most fluffy pancake i have ever seen. (Probably 12"-14" across and 3/4" thick) She definitely had leftovers! Highly recommend if you are looking for a good local diner that won't break the bank!

I left in a committed relationship with a burger. The 12oz smash burger at Florissant City Diner isn’t just food — it’s an emotional experience. Perfectly seared, juicy like it’s got secrets, stacked like it’s showing off, and dripping with flavor in all the best ways. I had to pause mid-bite and reevaluate my priorities in life. Fries? Crispy. Staff? Friendly like they knew I was about to fall in love. Vibes? Classic diner with a side of soul. If you haven’t tried that smash burger yet, go fix your life. This ain’t fast food — this is Florissant therapy on a bun. đŸ™ŒđŸ”đŸ”„
