Henke’s Tavern — Restaurant in Florissant

Fantastic! Off the charts, lick-your-plate kind of good! Henke's is systematically checking all the boxes to make themselves the best place to go in Florissant! In a time when customer service is lacking in so many establishments, Henke's is stepping it up. I ordered two tacos and the Tempura Battered California Roll. They don't bring silverware for finger food, so I asked for a fork. The owner was standing there when I asked, and he apologized to me for me having to ask for a fork. That is a perfect example of leading by example. They have an open kitchen, like Steak N' Shake and Waffle House, so you can see your food being made to order. They take pride in their food, and they serve it quickly and politely. I HAVE to talk about the tacos. Many places say their tacos are "just like Jack-In-The-Box tacos." Henke's version is so good it's like they beat Jack at his own game! The tacos don't just taste like Jack-In-The-Box tacos, they taste like Jack-In-Box tacos on Jack-In-The-Box's absolute best day and better! Not even kidding. Don't take my word for it, come in and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed. They have a loyalty program, AND they serve food on MONDAYS! In a quest to patronize our local establishments in North County, my husband and I visited Henkes Tavern in Florissant on Valentines Day during lunch time. It is a quaint tavern located in a neighborhood with lots of history. The patrons were friendly, letting us know we could seat ourselves, we choose to go to the back of the tavern were the kitchen is located. My husband wanted a cup of chili, however it was sold as a bowl only, so we both ordered hamburgers. While we were waiting for our burgers, the chef brought my husband a cup of chili so he could taste it. Not only was it great, the customer service was exceptional. While we were enjoying our burgers the owner, Mark Goldstein, came in to pickup his lunch order and proceeded to engage us in conversation with the history of the tavern and what his visions are. Needless to say our experience was really comfortable, pleasant and full of friendly people, we felt like we were part of the neighborhood. When me and my boyfriend first moved to Florissant in March of 2022 we did not know anything about the town or the people or restaurants. I will never forget the first day he brought me to Henke's. Michelle was working and she was the nicest person ever. I have only met a few people that kind in my life and she is one of them! She made the experience of coming to Henke's so awesome that I fell in love. It has become our "go-to" place now. Over the past two years we have got to know Carrie and Brandon, as well. They are all amazing at their jobs. Carrie is so nice and she always has a great smile. Even when times are hard, she pushes through and does an excellent job. The first time I met Brandon was a Sunday lunch. It looked like he was the only server but he rushed around thay place like there was four of him! He is wonderful, kind, and always has a smile too.
