The food is amazing, as to be expected from this family of restaurants. Everything else was so bad I thought that Ashton Kutcher was going to walk out from behind the counter any minute and say that I was being Punk’d.
We started our visit by not being able to stand up straight while waiting in line because there was oil all over the bare concrete floor. Slid all over the place. Gross.
At the counter we had to repeat our order no less than three times. First, to a gentleman who stopped us after each word to repeat what we had said, one word at a time, to the person on the grill. He also started helping the person after us when he decided we were done with our speak-and-spell style order, without waiting or even asking for us to continue. Second, we spoke to the man who wrote down what we ordered on the tray for assembly. We had to repeat ourselves several times here, he just flat out wasn’t listening. I got the impression that this man was supposed to be expediting. I’m not sure he understands the job. Finally, at the register. We had to repeat our order, sides, give a name, the works. The cashier silently plugging in the details while slurping on a soda and handling money with his gloved hands.
There were 5 people behind the counter, none of them talking to each other. (Except for Mr. Speak-and-spell… sort of.) Absolutely ridiculous.
After paying we reviewed our receipt. We were charged $2.50 for a slice of cheese. The menu lists it at $1. Way to go, guys.
I went to the restroom after ordering to wash up. As soon as I set foot in the door I did the splits. Again, a ton of oil on the floor. Much worse than the oil in front of the door. WHY?! I recovered, tried to take another step, and slipped again. I was so caught off guard that I yelled in exasperation before the door even shut behind me. If they don’t get a handle on cleaning the floors, someone WILL fall and injure themselves. It’s not a possibility, it’s an eventuality. If I were rushing I would have ended up on my face, or worse: pulling a Million-Dollar baby and breaking my neck on the sink on the way down.
The soap dispenser was also broken. I guess the employees don’t wash their hands anyway since they all wear gloves..? Nasty.
Finally, our meals came. You would think that after having to repeat my order in its entirety 3+ times that they would get it right. Nope. Toppings that we asked for were not there, and toppings that we did not ask for were also there. I threw my head back and laughed.
Get it together before you are forced to...
Read moreSo I’ve had sugarfire many of times and even once at this location in Florissant. Unfortunately both times I’ve had issues but this 2nd time was probably the one that will stick and I won’t return. Me and my husband were hungry for bbq and I recommended this place despite my husband not wanting it he was suggesting elsewhere. Well we get to order and I ordered brisket cheesesteak and he got the smoked Turkey Caesar salad. First the guy on the sides asked me if I wanted to taste the potato salad before getting it and I was like ummm that doesn’t sound like good sign as I’ve had it many times and it’s great. Well we tasted it and it was horrible. I’ll just leave it at that. So we got Mac n cheese which was alright and baked beans they were good. Ok so now we’re checking out and ordering the salad I was asked what type dressing. I was like ummm Caesar cause I asked for Caesar salad so thought it was obvious the dressing lol. Then get to counter to pay the guy asks me to tell him our whole order again. Once again I said smoked Turkey Caesar salad he asks what kind of dressing. So I guess it’s required to ask. Anyway it was $34. We get home and when I say the food was not worth $15. The brisket they put more cheese sauce on the container than the sandwich. The brisket was horribly cooked. Like I couldn’t tell the difference in the onions and peppers and the brisket it was all fat and texture just squishy like. I threw it away. The salad was nothing more than a salad could’ve gotten out the grocery store one of the kits where make it yourself. Needless to say we were totally disappointed and still hungry. So yea they might need some retraining or something on the cooking side cause it was not right at all. Don’t have pics as we didn’t even think about it we were tired from driving back in town all day so just took it as a loss....
Read moreThis was my first time eating at sugar fire. I ordered online and decided to pick it up in person. Upon opening the door to the restaurant the person behind the to go order counter looked at me then turned around and went into the back and acted like they were busy doing absolutely nothing. The other five or so people that were in there working were playing on their phones or had blank stares on their face like they were all just inconvenienced by me stepping in to the restaurant. After about 20 seconds of silence I finally said some thing and you would’ve thought an earthquake happened by the looks on their face. I ordered a full rack of ribs, mac & cheese, baked beans, and a cherry Coke. When I got home I unwrapped the ribs that were wrapped really well. I started with the mac & cheese and it tasted identical to Lee’s Chicken food service truck heat and serve. Bland and overcooked. The baked beans also tasted like food service truck heat and serve with a couple pieces of meat and onion in it. The baked beans also smelled like rubbing alcohol. Next, I took a drink of the cherry Coke. It tasted like it was made with Jack Daniels whiskey in it. Next I tried the regular barbecue sauce packet and it also tasted like rubbing alcohol. Finally the ribs. They tasted like pork ribs with a tiny bit of seasoning added to them. I could not detect a smoke flavor at all which leads me to believe they were cooked using propane. I do not have an issue with this as ribs can be cooked many ways. The ribs were obviously over cooked and adding barbecue sauce helped a little with the flavor but not much. It’s quite obvious this meal was not prepared by a pit master or someone who loves bbq. This was my first experience and my last as I will not...
