I’m a young chad at a good age of 16 and I’ve been to this establishment on multiple occasions not for me but for friends in family who think this establishment makes “good” donuts. I can’t see how everyone calls these good, but I prefer a bowl of cereal over this crud any day. As we ordered our donuts I noticed people consistently going in and out of the revolving door that leads to the door and naturally I examine it and the biggest thing I noticed was the floor was covered in what looked like mud or something like it and it was covered in it. The racks that the glazed donuts are held on were covered in dried up glaze for god knows how long and some of the donuts had ripped bottoms. On another occasion when I was asked to stop by and pick up a donut or two I watched I really obese guy with glasses rip off the top of a chocolate long john and eat what he had ripped off in his hands and he threw away the bottom half of it, and did it to about three or so donuts. Disgusted me with how unhealthy it was and how obese he already was, don’t think a donut shop is the best place for him to work with his health condition. “You’re perfectly healthy” is the lie his doctor tells him year after year. The female staff you guys have as of right now is also a huge let down, before summer started there were a numerous amount of cute chicks but now it’s like they downgraded from an iPhone to an Apple, it gets the job done but it does not look pretty, before they got the job done and looked fine doin it. The soda they have as well didn’t taste great, I drink Coca-Cola all the time and tasting the Coca-Cola they had was not a pleasent experience. I’ve also witnessed several roaches crawl across the floor and stools in the shop and I also hear that they get robbed a lot at night so I’d suggest to stay away at night. I’ve also been lead to believe that they’re racist, I’ve never seen any black people working or any other ethnic background except white, I know of many people who’ve applied there who never heard a word back and people who just won’t apply because they know they won’t be hired because of their skin. Next time you’re there ask how many black people ir Mexican people work there, you might get one or two but no more than that. They loser ladies who work there during the week are sweet and nice and their service is wonderful and having them work is what’s I’d say one of the best things this store has going. There are many other flaws I can point out but I...
Read moreI'm going to start off by voicing my opinion on this being the "Best Donuts in America:" it's not.
Sincerely, they're not. I've had donuts from all over and while these are certainly tasty donuts, I wouldn't put them in my top 10.
I picked up a French cruller, some long johns, a Boston cream and some apple pie one I was told had filling (it did not).
Every single donuts was tasty. The dough was firm but light and the frosting wasn't too sweet. I quite enjoyed every single one I got, however, I would not put them in the same league as other local joints like Johns Donuts or Donut drive in.
The selection was also underwhelming. I came in on a Sunday morning and while their case was full it was really just two cases of donuts. I counted about 10 types of donuts plus donut holes and apple fritters. I expected staples such as a simple glaze, a strawberry frosted, or even chocolate cake donuts.
The other thing that didnt help was most of the donuts weren't labeled and the girls behind the counter taking your order didnt seem to know what was what when asked.
My last comment is on the price. Paid close to $10 for half a dozen which isn't bad. When I walked in and saw what I was getting myself into I at least thought if they were cheaper than the competition it could be worth it. Alas, they were not.
Did I enjoy my donuts? Yes. Are they the best in America? Not by a long shot.
Best in St. Louis? I wouldn't say so. I'm pretty sure this is one of the only shops in the area that actively campaigned for votes. These are so comparable to Donut Drive in (which is closer to me) that it's not worth coming back here again. There's also Vincent Van Donuts which I would argue is top 10.
I'm still giving this place 5 stars because they're good donuts, the price is fair, and they're one of the only 24 hour donut...
Read moreI’ve heard the hype of how this business was the standard of excellence for a local donut shop so I ordered a wide variety of donuts with high expectations. I will try to focus on the quality of the product because the gentleman that took my order got the quantity on every item I ordered incorrect and likely needs his hearing checked. His demeanor was also course and condescending, he instructed me to hold the box by the bottom because some idiot dropped a box outside. Thanks dad!
I’ll start with the gooey butter donut and it was the only good donut sampled. They screwed this up having one left at 830 am on a Sunday morning with no more being made. I asked if they had more and was told they hadn’t made more.
The old fashioned donut was undercooked and falling apart, not edible by any standards.
The blueberry cake (I think) with frosting was also undercooked, had some off and possibly spoiled flavor, inedible.
The bacon and butterscotch or whatever long john was bland and underwhelming. I considered it a win considering the other selections.
The german chocolate was the most appealing to me but was also ruined with quality issues. Found: long blonde hair in first and only bite.
I didn’t look for a rating on the door but this business cannot survive with low standards like this. I would have been happy with the price had the majority of the items been edible. Maybe the kitchen had some turmoil and the boss just needs a vacation. I would call this a fail and would recommend new management.
*Update: son and I had the runs all day, thanks for...
