Food isn't that great, but it's one of a small handful of restaurants in this very small town, so people tend to just come here because it's usually the only place open. The salsa is literally just blended/pureed tomatoes. No real flavor. Most of the time the chips taste stale. The only thing on the menu that's even remotely close to being good enough to talk about is their country ribeye, but then, that's not even really Mexican food, is it? If you've ever had really good, fresh Mexican food, you'd know right away that this isn't the place to get it. It's basic, restaurant chain Mexican food that you can get anywhere, really. The food is one thing, the service, however, is quite a separate matter. Wait staff are rude and unpleasant. They act like high school kids, and seem irritated that you are there. Some congregate in the back seating area, in the dark, and gesture, whisper and snicker at/about the customers. Though, most of the time, they're playing on their phones, too occupied by the internet to remember items that paying customers have asked for. The atmosphere is just weird and awkward. You feel like you've done something wrong just by being there or for some crazy reason, they don't like you even though there is no earthly, logical reason why that would even be so. It's hard to explain. The food is just okay. Not worth the prices, really. Also, double check your receipts and make sure you weren't charged for things you didn't order or were overcharged for the items you did order. The owners are also impersonal. Even the managers aren't friendly. Maybe they all just hate being there. Maybe they have so much money that they don't care whether you're a returning customer or not. But, if THEY hate being there.....maybe their customers should find a different, more friendly and pleasant place to spend their hard-earned money. Try Blue Ridge Diner or Parkway Grille or American Pie Restaurant or DJs Drive In. Basically, any other place to eat but at this one. You'll have a better experience. And those establishments are actually happy that...
Read moreI just had an awful experience here. Showed up for a carry out order placed 30 minutes in advance. Was told my order would be right up, but then I sat and waited for another 45 minutes for my food. The owner was working the register and her attitude was rude, dismissive, and unapologetic. She didn't offer me any explanation, she wouldn't apologize, and she didn't say or offer anything to try and make it better. When I started to get visibly frustrated after 40 minutes and asked her if my food was almost done she was very short with me, she got an attitude and turned her back on me. Table after table was seated and served while I sat there waiting for my food. It was nearly 2 hours between the time I placed my order and when I walked out the door. Once I got home with the food 2 out of four orders were wrong and another one was correct but wasn't good at all. I would never come back here to eat again. My family lives in the area and have frequented this restaurant for years and they won't be back anymore either. If you live in Floyd or are visiting the area do yourself a favor and pick a...
Read moreThey were the only restaurant open. We went on Monday. The specials menu posted combo meals at $6.25 for Monday. So I ordered off that menu. When the bill came they still wanted me to pay 9.25. The food was beyond basic. Not somewhere I'd ever eat again unless they changed their recipes. So I felt it was incredibly poor value for what I got. There's a few places I know that charge 3.50 a taco that literally bury the competition. If the owner sees this here is my advice: serve real Mexican food not this insulting version of 1980's make believe Mexican. I know you have people in your kitchen that make their own home cooking better than anything you're forcing them to serve. Let them make the new menu and you might be a success. Until then I'm guessing your being open at all is due to lack of other places being open and the appeal of alcoholic beverages. To anyone else reading this- taco bell is cheaper with more flavor... and still isn't really Mexican food... save your money...
