Title this #Disappointment. We've been staying at Hotel Floyd for a decade, always in the pet friendly suites, and this is the first let down. I hope it's a one-off and not a decline. We were asked if we wanted the room serviced during our three night stay. Yes please, how about our middle day? Our room service was forgotten (the afternoon before our checkout, so no reason to call about it). On our first night, there was someone running laundry machines and talking on his cell phone on the other side of our apparently thin, non-insulated bedroom wall. Might as well have been in our bedroom. We'd not noticed this on multiple previous visits because the laundry was always run at an appropriate time between checkin and checkout. I let the worker know and it stopped. I called the front desk to change the service time for the next day and let them know, and asked that laundry not be run next to our bedroom in the evening. It happened again, after midnight on our last night. When I called the front desk, the response was 'I'll pass it on, honey'. No, don't pass it on. Get it stopped. And finally, what used to be a hallmark of the Hotel Floyd, their fantastic breakfast, is back after the pandemic. Well, back as a mediocre, typical hotel breakfast. Premade scrambled eggs, sausage and porridge were put out in quantities too large for the weekday guest occupancy and just left to warm until they were gone, half an hour, 45 minutes or more. This I would not have noticed had our stay been at the run of the mill 2-3 star hotel, but given the Hotel Floyd's history with a fantastic, home-cooked breakfast, it was very disappointing. I hope this is...
Read moreOur room was on the third floor. We planned to check out, visit a local store to pick up a specific gift for a friend, and then drive to chateau Morissette for a lunch reservation. Unfortunately, the hotel only had one elevator and it broke. Nobody notified us, and as a result, we stood in front of the elevator for several minutes under the mistaken belief that it was merely slow because several guests were likely checking out of the hotel. A housekeeping employee finally saw us and told us the elevator was broken. We are seniors with back, knee and shoulder problems. We were forced to repeatedly walk up and down several flights of stairs to carry our multiple heavy bags to the lobby. When I reached the lobby with the first load of luggage, I saw one employee in the office. He was a young, large man who easily could have helped. But he did not. The only person who offered any help was the woman who worked in housekeeping. I was unable to shop as I had planned. And left with an inflamed shoulder and knees. I heard employees remarking that employees had repeatedly asked management to repair the elevator but they had not, leading to repeated breakdowns. This is no way to treat customers.
The breakfast was not good. The eggs were inedible. They only yogurt offered was strawberry, to which I am allergic. The biscuits were over cooked and dried out from sitting in a warmer...
Read moreWe chose to stay at the Hotel Floyd on our most recent visit to one of our favorite small towns. Our request for a somewhat early check-in was accommodated without question. The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed with artwork depicting the area and accent pieces honored our rural surroundings. Everything we expect to have in the way of lodging amenities was readily available. Probably the biggest surprise was the delicious breakfast buffet that is included. Actual plates, flatware and coffee mugs aren’t something usually found at mid tier chains, but here it all was at this great independent hotel . Great coffee, biscuits and sausage gravy, eggs, link sausage, pastries and others items made for a complete and filling start to our day. |It is a short, safe walk on a concrete sidewalk directly to South Locust Street where the Floyd County Store, great shops and the Dogtown Roadhouse are. |We highly recommend the Hotel Floyd a d will stay there the next time we...
