At 7:30pm last night we placed our order online. It said the wait time was approximately 45-50 minutes. Once 8:30 rolled around, we checked the status on the Slice app - it said "in progress". So we waited a while longer. At about 9pm, I called the restaurant and was greeted with "Sal's Pizza...WE'RE CLOSED!!" I said, "excuse me?", because certainly no business would answer their phone so rudely. He repeated, "we're closed". (They close at 9:30pm). So I explained that we ordered on the Slice app and still hadn't received our dinner. He said, "yah, it's on the way". So we waited another 20 minutes for it to be delivered to our hotel a couple blocks away.
The delivery driver was pleasant, but there were no utensils, napkins, plates, parmesan cheese, etc. We had nothing to eat with or on. Kind of disappointing for leaving a 30% tip ahead of time.
I have to say, I gave 1 star only because the calzone we ordered was pretty good, but it wasn't very hot. The garlic knots were cold & hard and the chicken Ceasar salad was some iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and onions with a cup of Ceasar dressing (I think it was Ceasar dressing - we didn't even taste it because the salad didn't look appetizing at all).
All in all, not a great experience. Kinda bummed that this happened. Definitely would NOT order...
Read moreI used to love this place. They make good food and it’s unique. However I will never order their food again and I will never recommend this place again. In fact I will recommend that they do not go. What happened was that I called in an order one day and I had to cancel because something unexpectedly came up; a family member’s car broke down out in the country and I had to go find her because she was lost and help her get the car started again. I called back and cancelled within 5 minutes and the kid on the phone told me my money would be refunded on my card and that it wasn’t a big deal because they hadn’t thrown it in the oven yet. But that money was never refunded and when I called about it the next week they were not willing to work with me. They told me they had made the pizza and I had to pay for it. But previously the guy on the phone said it wasn’t a big deal for the opposite reason on that day. They took advantage of the situation to rip me off and keep my money. It was only $20 but I didn’t expect something so simple to be such a big issue. I’d only order from Sal’s again in the future if I wanted food from a greasy skeevebag that’d rip me off and take my money at the first chance he’d get. It’s a shame because I do...
Read moreFond Du Lac people are the worst I tell you. Almost every single restaurant, local and chain are absolutely terrible. Oshkosh at least half the places are exceptionally good. But Fondy seems to be home to the ones that really don't seem to care at all about their food or service. To the point, everyone has told me for years to try Sals and how its the best pizza. Well i finally did, I was told when I called, the only slice you can get by the slice is cheese. Okay....weird.. I place an order for a cheese pizza rather than a slice. Shouldn't be bad right? can't get a cheese pizza wrong right? The crust is dry, bland and tastes old. The sauce is watered down tomato sauce with no salt, no seasoning, very little flavor. The cheese is bland and just grease. No love, no care, no passion at all in this establishment. It shows in the food. Its cooked to the cheapest, most basic recipe to cut costs and make profit. Frozen generic brand pizza in the grocery store is cheaper and better. I hate to be so blunt, but please find your love and passion for creating good food, this is food being put out by someone depressed and has lost all care...
