How can you fire someone for "no call no show" when they were never told to come in in the first place? If you wish to fire someone for a "no call no show", there are many ways to let them know instead of waiting for them to come into their next SCHEDULED shift then act like they were supposed to know they no longer work there just to humiliate them in front of all your other employees. You've said time and time again that you will make more posts about the schedule and will continue working out the flaws, then fail to do so. The schedule was made for the entire month of January, and this employee was scheduled 2 days or less a week while almost every other employee is scheduled just about every single day. It's pretty sad that you've done this knowing that this employee dropped everything to work for you. They have been constantly asking for more hours, more tables, etc, and all you've told them is that they need more experience with their drinks and menu. How can someone gain more experience when you only give them 2 tables? Then, only to get yelled at when they have nothing to do because they're just "standing around" or rolling silverware? What are they supposed to do when one server with 2 large groups "accidentally" takes one of their tables and they are left there to just bite the bullet? Laurie and her employees are disrespectful and treat people like garbage. I hope you consider putting people on a real schedule and actually let THEM prove THEMSELVES to you instead of being manipulated by your "good friend" employees. If not, then what's the point of hiring people when you can't even give them hours, let alone a chance TO work there? Very disappointed in you Laurie. I had much higher expectations for a place like this.
If there was as much time and thought put into how the place would fully function as a restaurant as there was put into the ambience and "first glance" of the place, then they would have a smoother running business. It has been made apparent that Brick House is nothing more than an over sized dining space for their good friends, family, and important people they are trying to impress. If you are neither of those people, then you will be highly dissatisfied with your visit.
So, unless you want to be employed by a place where you have to constantly fear for your job based on the mood of the owner (Laurie), then The Brick house isn't right for you. Or, if you enjoy wasting your time at an establishment where the quality of your service and the time you spend waiting to be sat is solely based off how important you are to Laurie or Dan (the owners), then again, Brick House probably isn't...
Read moreI had such high expectations for this place but was so very disappointed. We had reservation s for a large group celebrating my sons 30th birthday. When I originally made reservations they said we might ya wait because there were 3 other large great the sane time. When we got there we were seated immediately, yay. That was great. But then it was all down hill after. Our waitress Renate took our orders for drinks. Most ordered water. I and my son ordered soda's and 2 others coffee. She brings all but my sons soda. Which he never got and we were charged for. Then quite a awile later came back to take our orders. Seemed to go ok. Then we waited and waited and waited. After over and hour one of our party had to leave,. So we tried to get Renates attention several times until the party had to leave got up and hunted Renate down to ask how long yet. All she got was there working on it it's a big order. BTW this whole time no refills of any kind until I grabbed on of the bussers if we could get refill, when they finally brought them I asked if we could have the one ordered to go because she need to leave now. ,15 minutes later her order came out and she left. Shortly after our orders finally started coming, mind you, an hour ,15 minutes since ordering. Most food was good but 1 burger was burnt passed recognition as a burger. Buns on 2 other orders were burnt and I ordered a steak mind you never asked how I wanted it was so overcooked it tasted like liver flavored shoe leather. I said something and they took my plate and didn't return until after there rest of my party was done eating. Renate never came back to check on us until she handed us the bill, which was wrong. Will we try again? Always give another chance but all will know of this experience when asked how it was. PS. Total time there 21/2 hours and as for these other big parties that we're supposed to be there. Never saw a table more than 6...
Read moreWow! What an improvement in such a short time. We like to give places a few tries before discontinuing and this was our last shot. The difference was our server Yvonne. We had the prime rib and truffle potatoes last night and it was delicious as the food always is. She had to be one of the friendliest and quick waitresses we have ever had anywhere and a big improvement from the other servers we have had the other 3 occassions. She was clean, well put together, and all the things I used to look for when I used to run a supper club. We were not sure what truffle mashed potatoes were and she admitted it was only her 2nd day and she doesn't have as much knowledge about all the menu items as she would like yet but she would find out. The way she explained the potatoes to us after checking with the kitchen she could have sold us a house! When she wasn't caring for customers we saw her constantly cleaning tables for other waitresses even before the bussers could clean the tables. Our water glasses never ran low nor did our mixed drinks. Every table she had she connected with. We will be back and hope that we get her as our server every night, and will be certain to bring friends with us next time finally! There is no doubt the personality of your servers is what will make your business flourish. It takes more than amazing food for people to have a truly amazing dining experience. Appearance and personality are major. Keep improving your servers and you will be on top in no time. If we would have had the same bland service like we had last Friday night our review would be...
