Currently finishing up lunch with my grandmother and from the start of the visit, I am discovering that this place has really gone down hill. They were advertised as opening at 11:00 and at 11:04 we were still standing at the door waiting for it to be unlocked. Finally, a host came up and unlocked one door, but not the revolving door that we were supposed to use to enter the restaurant. She had to have seen us, as my grandmother was standing right in front of the door she did unlock, but she completely ignored us. We went in through the “wrong” door and the host had walked right back into the back of house. A nice bartender tried to find the host, but ended up seating us himself (thank you!). Our server Casey was very nice and attentive. Here’s the big problem though: the food. I ordered a crusted trout, of which the entire filet was completely covered in crust (not the problem). The problem was there was a bit of the tail that wasn’t removed prior to breading and was not obvious by looking at it, shape-wise. My first bite was, naturally, the tail. I was spitting out chunks of food into my napkin, trying to be discrete, but there was so many spines. I was genuinely horrified. I have had many a trout serving, but never one where if it were breaded, they left parts on that were inedible, or at least did not bread the parts that were not edible so you could see them. My grandmother ordered salmon, which was so over cooked and dry as to be nearly inedible, and her whipped potatoes were flavorless and cold. It was just really disappointing. I tried to give the manager some feedback about our experience, who we had to track down as we were leaving, but he told me that he had never had anyone have that problem with the trout before. I felt like he wanted me to feel foolish. I find it unusual that we had multiple issues with the food, there were at most two other tables in at the time, and the manager never once stopped by to see if we were okay. We won’t be back and we will encourage others to reconsider their dining choices, because this is not the standard that we have experienced with this restaurant in past years.
Update on 1/13/22: I filled out the feedback link provided by the responder to this review and I haven't heard a word since. All lip-service and no...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I visited the Bonefish Grill on Forest Drive in Columbia, SC on August 11th arriving around 6:20 PM. We were seated right away, but unfortunately, it took about 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order. During that time, multiple staff members, including the server assigned to our table, walked past us and attended to the table directly next to us. When the server finally approached, he mentioned he didn’t realize we were his table despite the fact that we had been told by the host exactly who our server would be. He apologized, citing “miscommunication,” and proceeded to take our order.
From the start, the service felt inattentive. When ordering, the server did not seem to be listening, repeatedly asking questions we had already answered.
When we ordered drinks, the server asked for our IDs. I am 22 and my boyfriend is also 22. The server looked at my ID, then unexpectedly asked for my address and birthday, which was a bit unusual. Stating that “it’s a little close”. When reviewing my boyfriend’s ID, he stated he could not accept it because of a minor issue: the protective film on the card had not been removed. He then asked if my boyfriend had a passport, which he understandably did not have with him.
The server brought over the manager, who examined the ID and also refused to accept it. We even showed a clear photo of my boyfriend’s passport to confirm the birthdate and identity matched exactly, but they still declined. No alternative solutions were offered, and we were not accommodated in any way.
Overall, the staff’s approach came across as dismissive, rigid, and lacking in customer care. The experience was disappointing, especially given that Bonefish Grill is typically known for quality service. Unfortunately, this visit fell far short of those...
Read moreI hate to leave a bad review but for the sake of other’s health/experiences and for the future of the restaurant I need to share. Our bread plates were dirty but we chose to over look it and just not use them. Then the glasses for our sangria pitcher were too dirty to overlook so we asked for new ones. I ordered the bang bang shrimp tacos (the only thing I wanted on the menu) and I took one bite and look down and see a very large bug in my taco🤢. The manager came by and apologized and they brought me a new order. When they put the plate down I noticed something looked weird. The ketchup votive for the fries was half used. Not just half filled but half used because it was smeared all over the sides and had egg bits and hollandaise sauce (which is not in anything we ordered) all over the outside which was then on my plate. At that point I didn’t feel like saying anything else to the waitress, as it wasn’t even her fault. They took the tacos off the bill but nothing else. Which is the bare minimum to do in this situation. We are not the complaining type and usually just go with the flow because things happen, especially in the restaurant business, but this was gross and just got worse as our time went on there. It’s so sad to see restaurants go down hill, especially restaurants where your minimum entree is about $20. I don’t think my friends and I will ever be back and we certainly will steer anyone we know of coming here as it needs to get under heavy inspection and...
