Iāve been to the one downtown twice now and the food was amazing! So I decided to try the other location in Forest Acres. Parking was easy and the restaurant itself looked lovely. My husband and I were the only folks in line and we waited for someone to acknowledge us and take our order, but no one ever did. There were lots of people behind the counter but we were the only ones in line. Since we went so long without even being acknowledged (no hello, not even any eye contact!) we assumed we were in the wrong spot so we went and waited by the register instead. The lady at the register was nice and asked if weād already ordered and we told her no. She told us we had to go stand where we were before and order there. But by that point, someone new had walked in. They acknowledged the new guest immediately and started taking his order! Iām not sure why we stood there awkwardly for so long with everyone just refusing to even say hello or anything. The restaurant wasnāt busy and like I said, we were the only ones in line. If they had even said āHey, weāre a little busy, weāll be right with youā that would have been perfectly fine. We were happy to wait. It was just being ignored for so long and then seeing other guests being acknowledged while weād been waiting forever that was the problem. Iāve never left a bad review for anyone before but that made me feel very unwelcome and hurt so we decided to eat somewhere else for lunch. Iām sure the food was just as good as the spot downtown (I left a great review thereā¦I promise Iām not trying to be mean-spirited). I just wanted them to be aware that this happened because if it happened to us, Iām sure itās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am sorry to say that this was not a pleasant lunch experience today. My friend and I were exhausted by the time we left. I ordered the Greek salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was so dry I couldnāt eat it. Not enough salad dressing to help the dryness. I spoke with a manager (I think) and explained the situation and was told extra dressing was .83 more. Not that I donāt have ,83 it was the fact I needed it to be able to eat it and I had already paid over $20 for lunch. It didnāt phase the lady I spoke to. So it ended up in the trash.
My friend ordered the prime rib sandwich rare, on rye with no lettuce or tomatoes or cheese. She got the sandwich on a roll with cheese, lettuce and tomato and it was cooked well done.
Needless to say they need a different system on placing orders and donāt overcook the chicken. It will be awhile before I may think about returning. Sad about that because I was looking...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe service was quick despite a lunch rush. The food was delicious. I had an egg salad sandwich with added bacon and the potato salad as a side. Both were fantastic. The price however was very high for what you are getting. Our complete order was 2 egg salad sandwiches with added bacon, a side of fries with one and a side of potato salad with the other and one fountain drink. The total before tip was $36.49. $4.59 for fries is excessive and $10.99 for just an egg salad sandwich with bacon is unheard of in Columbia. The prices remind me more of what you would pay in Charleston or Charlotte at a deli. I will treat myself to this every now and again, but sadly it is too expensive to add as a regular lunch spot. I hope they do well and stick...
