This restaurant came highly recommended by our family members and we were excited to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary there. We are from Maryland and traveled to Columbia, South Carolina to celebrate with our family. We called ahead was told to come in early and we would be seated. We had a party of 20. We came at 630pm on January 30th. We sat and sat... We were told that there was another party there and that we couldn't all be accommodated. We really felt like we were inconveniencing the restaurant by selecting them. We were brought to the back area of the restaurant and were told that we couldn't all sit together, per the Ada guidelines. As an administrator at hospital, I completely understood that. What I didn't understand was the manager being so completely rude and condescending, he embarrassed me on my anniversary in front of other patrons who sat watching him explain these guidelines to me over and over. He even said "what do you want from me?" and I replied "I want you to care, to show some empathy". We all left and went to another restaurant spending close to $700 in drinks and food. This poor manager could have turned this experience around by being nice and apologetic (even if there was nothing that he could physically do) he could have created an memorable experience for us. The other restaurant took us with a minutes notice and they seriously celebrated us. It was a great ending to our night. I will definitely not recommend this establishment, they only care about the money and not creating an experience. I will end by saying that my family was really embarrassed by the actions of that manager and the representation of the state of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy girlfriend and I typically go to J Peters. We enjoy our experience, however last night we had a terrible experience. She has a terrible almond allergy.we typically have one waitress, and I cannot recall her name, but she is always so pleasant and understands her situation and goes above and beyond to ensure there are no almonds in her salad. Last night, my girlfriend found almonds in her salad. She wasn't to upset because we understand that mistakes happen. However, the situation was handled very poorly. First off, the waitress did not seem to be overly concerned about the situation. She did apologize, but I dont' think she understands that some people that have allergies, and this can be fatal in our case. Also, she said the manager would come speak with us soon, we did not request this, she stated this. To top it off, she brought out the bill with zero exemptions and charged us for the salad. Finally, the manager was never seen or heard from. We had to ask to get the salad that she did not eat removed from the bill. In the end, we had only $4.00 removed from the bill, no apology from the manager, and the manager never came to speak with us after we were told that he would, and subpar service after the incident. Other than our typical waitress, who came by to apologize personally, this experience has really turned us off. People have food allergies and all we asked for was a little common sense. I hope going forward this restaruaunt can learn from this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have a few issues with this location: there were several empty tables and empty chairs at the bar to indicate that it was not that busy and yet my drink from the bar, my salad and my aunt's salad came out before our order of croissants did. All of your food should not come out at once unless there's an indication of a sense of urgency.. We didn't make the demand to have our food expedited quickly, we were simply waiting on what we ordered patiently.. Although my aunt could not get what she ordered, this guy from the back felt it was fine to come out and tell us that a truck didn't come in and therefore the item she requested was unavailable. The guy offered another option but she respectfully declined and was fine with her salad once they brought out the dressing that she originally ordered instead of duplicating the dressing that was brought with my salad. I've worked in a restaurant before and I'm sure as a waitress, she was notified of what items were available on the menu when she came in for her shift and what items weren't available. Even if she wasn't aware of what items weren't available, as part of your position you should want to have information readily available for potential questions about what you're offering on the menu that someone may want to order. The final bill included a drink that hadn't been ordered and I had to request to have that removed and corrected. The portions were plentiful but the experience will prevent me from...
