So I've given this shop a few tries and I've had subs made by two different people. At first the pictures almost swayed me from trying the place. The subs "Looked" like any normal sub so the price seemed a bit higher for the type of sub I thought they would be. I gave it a shot anyways and am very glad I did. The first sub I had was a Warzone, I got the large foolishly equating it to a footlong from subway, however, the Warzone is massive, it was absolutely amazing. Stepping down large words for better explanations, The weight stood out more than anything, it was a heavy sub, packed with plenty of veggies. I actually couldn't finish it and saved the rest for later. The large subs could def feed two moderately hungry people or one really hungry person. Next day I tried the 300 which came with some potato salad and chips as a daily special, I like this format best for a quick lunch meal. It was just as good as the first sub, the meat fresh and tasty, the bread (wheat) was also very good and fluffy, not flat crushed, thin bread you get from the big chains. It didn't fall apart or flatten down, it stayed puffy and held up great. Both times I went, I was in and out within 5 or so min. It is cash only. I don't have an issue with this personally as I always have cash. But with how easy it is to get a card reader for phones or tablets, they could charge a "credit fee" to cover the % those companies take to make the difference, prb wouldn't be more than 20-50cents which most people would probably find reasonable. ATM is available in the place but would charge ATM fee that is higher than the fee for a credit transaction with most apps.

Read moreA friend told me about this place and insisted we go. I do love a good sub sandwich. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The folks there really seem to enjoy their job. Family owned since 1989. Decor was basic but clean and in good condition. Lot of family-owned hometown feel which included lots of historic photos and newspaper clippings hung on the wall. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. Cash Only! (but they have an ATM inside the store)
And now the food... I had a large #600 "Auntie M" - Ham, Turkey, Cotto, Capicolla, Genoa, Provolone, Cheddar & Swiss. It was delicious. The large is definitely large and comes cut into three sections. Everything tasted fresh and the bread was so good we bought two loaves to go so we could make our own sandwiches the next day. (A loaf of bread actually looks to be the size of two large subs.) They make their bread fresh every morning right there in the restaurant. It's so light and pillowy you could lay your head on it and take a nap. I ended up taking one of the sections back home with me and ate it later that night. It was still super yummy. My friend had a #400 - Turkey, Avocado & Cheese and loved it also.
This place is a local treasure. I wish I lived closer to enjoy it more often. It's definitely been added to my list of places to go again because there are a few other sandwiches I was debating on vs. my #600 choice this visit. I can easily see stopping here on the way to/from the coast from my house in Beaverton.
I'm also really curious about the 'Wall Of Fame' Challenge. I need to ask about that next...
Read morePhil's 1500 Subs in Forest Grove makes the Auntie M, a footlong so large it took me two days to finish. On the first day, it was fresh, crisp, and delightful. Surprisingly, even on the second day, it was nearly as good as the first, avoiding the usual sogginess.
Packed with genoa, turkey, ham, and cotto, the sandwich also featured provolone, Swiss, and cheddar cheeses that made all the difference. It was so generously filled that I almost needed help holding it.
The only downside was at the register. When I handed over my credit card, I was informed they only accept cash or checks. Thankfully, I had cash on me; otherwise, I would have had to use the ATM with its hefty fee. Because of this inconvenience, I rated them four stars instead of five. Despite this, their subs are top-notch, and I've already enjoyed them three...
