Visited El Rancho Bar & Grill for my sister's birthday with my brother, and it was such a great experience! I ordered the arroz texano, and as you can see in the photos, it looked as delicious as it tasted. The shrimp, grilled vegetables, and savory toppings blended perfectly over the flavorful rice. Every bite was packed with goodness! We also started with chips and salsa, which were on point. The salsa had just the right amount of kick, and the staff kept our drinks filled throughout the meal without us needing to ask. Their service was perfect—attentive, but not overbearing. They checked in just enough, made sure we had everything, offered to-go boxes, and handed us the bill with smooth timing. The atmosphere added to the experience—calm, cozy, and welcoming. It was easy to settle in and enjoy the day. Celebrating my sister's birthday with some incredible food and great service made it all the more special. If you're looking for a place with top-tier Mexican food and relaxing vibes, El Rancho is definitely worth checking out!

The Bacon-wrapped Burrito is incredible! Perfectly crispy with deliciously seasoned meat. I expected to use hot sauce, but it was flavored so well I never got to it! They have super-sized fishbowl margaritas... like so gigantic you'll want a photo. (I had to admire a neighboring table, but I'm definitely trying one next round.) They're still working out kinks as a new business. Our meals came out at different times. It took longer than the Olympic-speed-servers at Don Julios, but it was still a reasonable time. Prices are a little steep compared to other Mexican restaurants. (The bacon-wrapped burrito was worth every penny though!) Venue is small. Booths have nice cushions. It feels a little "cold" with all the stone materials used. Actual temperature with the A/C on was a little chilly too, so you might want to bring a sweatshirt. The outdoor patio is small, but has a nice view of the lake. There's some familiar, lovable staff from Don Julios. Overall, food and service was excellent. We'll definitely be back!

We were finally able to get out and try this new place, amazing! I'm so glad Forest Lake finally has a good Mexican restaurant! We tried the Tacos Mexicanos and my only complaint is that the sauce that comes with it is really spicy, I love a good hot sauce but this one was all heat and no flavor so it wasn't my thing. I'm used to a spicy green verde, which they had upon request but it wasn't what I'm used to. The steak in the tacos was to die for so they made up for it! We also tried the Nachos Locos, they are huge! Definitely a meal on its own and so good. We're topped everything off with a pitcher of margarita and were set for the evening. While we did experience a long wait, both to get in and to get our food, the chips and salsa and friendly staff made up for it, it's a new restaurant in an area lacking any decent food so it wasn't surprising.

I wouldn't have even given one star, but that's the lowest we could give.We were there for arts in the park and with another couple. After we decided to go to Rancho Loco for a night cap. We sat on the patio. My girlfriend and I each ordered a Mojito. They came and looked really tasty, until we tried them. It was the worst Mojito we have ever tasted. We thought, well maybe if we add some soda water it would make it better. It did not. So when our waitress returned we said we really tried to like these Mojitos, but there just not made right, can we please just replace them with two vodka tonics. The waitress took our drinks and nodded. Next thing we know a male server came out put our bill down and said, leave we don't want to serve you ant more. What??? How is this in any way....customer service! Simply because they didn't know the proper way to make a Mojito & we were dissatisfied with it. The solution was to make the vodka tonics and all is well, but they refused to do that. We will never be back and make sure our entire friend group and beyond knows how Rancho Loco treats patrons of Forest Lake. Extremely...
