Los Amigos Latin Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Forest Park

We went to eat here on a Friday evening. (Family of 5) We ordered a chicken with tajadas, carne asadas and churrascos and a pan con todo which we asked what was in it and she told us it included eggs, refried beans and avocado . When they brought the chicken, it was extremely refried. You couldn’t even bite into it. We requested to have a different one where it isn’t super fried. The waitress did not like that and from there service wasn’t as expected. She messed up on our order and refused to acknowledge that and kept arguing that we never told her our order and that she didn’t hear us. I had originally wanted a sandwhich and then changed my mind for their carne asada but she brought me the sandwhich after I told her that it was suppose to be the carne asada she just kept saying I never ordered it. She then wanted to charge me different from the menu due to the “2nd sandwich” which confused me at the end I ended taking the 2nd sandwich home to go so she didn’t have to pay for her error because the owner was going to deduct it from her pay. By the time we got the bill they just give you a bill with the total and an 18% gratuity included which you can’t customize. The bill seemed higher than what I thought so I asked for a detailed bill. She obviously didn’t like that when she brought it we were charged $8 extra for avocado, when I asked her why we were charged for extra avocado since we didn’t order that she amsaid that was part of the order for the 2 sandwiches. Then I told her that she said that was what the sandwhich came with and she never told us that they will charge extra for avocado which is misleading and shady on their part. At the end she had a real nasty attitude and told us do you want me to call my manager and at this point I was annoyed by her attitude that I said yes call him over. To finalize my review manager never came over to speak to us and she removed the extra $8. This will be my last time coming here. Don’t k ow if they changed ownership but it is so much more expensive than the last time I was here. Will not be coming back ever again. In my opinion it is overpriced and the food is just normal. Food is good. Drinks.. just buy a soda you will be better off, as their aguas frescas are pretty much coolaid flavor water. Service depends on server you get.

So why 2stars you ask?

Well as much as I like it, I do not appreciate nor like the fact that a ''gratuity'' was automatically added. (No we were not a party of 8 or more. It was 5 of us). And its very annoying that its added without stating up front. So either state it upfront or just dont charge it. Now dont get me wrong I have no issues on leaving a gratuity of more than what they added. However it should not be a default add on. I rather have great service that will keep me coming back even if food is mediocre and still leave more for the server than what restaurant added. Argument might be either... Some people stiff them. Well some people are cheap.

Tips make up for their lower minimum wage. True, true. But is it my fault as a consumer that employer is not paying them more?

Personally it is highly unlikely that I will ever go there again. At least not paying with my money, or if family really really want to though I will adamantly...

If you live near Forest Park and have an itch for Salvadoran/central american food or even just pupusas they are it! I've eaten here a dozen times back when they were Catalinas/Katrina's(Icr the name anymore), but I had never ordered through a delivery service before today(I live down the street but today I had my hands full with the kids today). Anyways, they honored my request and made my pupusa de chicharron sin queso and I was absolutely elated. Lots of restaurants don't follow or go out of their way to make a food traditionally made one way slightly altered/with an ingredient omitted, especially when ordering through a delivery app. Ive never really been able to stomach cheese and a family friends mom always made me a few without cheese. Being able to enjoy one as good as hers, made without the cheese just made my mother's day 100xs better. It was so delicious! 5🌟...
