I have legitimately never felt strongly enough to write a 1 star review (this is my first one), but in this case I feel it to be absolutely necessary.
My husband and I were passing through Forks around 7:30PM after a day at Olympic National Park. It was the 4th of July so we expected restaurants would be closing early, but a sign on the door indicated that Blakeslees would be open until 10PM for the holiday. Given that we were there 2.5 hours before closing, we joined the queue of people waiting. We started to hear that other people had been standing there for 30 minutes without any indication of how long the wait would be. After waiting about 20 minutes ourselves, we ended up driving to two other restaurants in town which were already closed (completely understandable given that it was the 4th of July). We ended up joining the line at Blakeslees again. There was still a line but it was significantly shorter, as we noticed a lot of people had also given up their spot in line to seek out other options.
There was a sweet family in front of us and when we finally saw the hostess walk over, I heard her make a rude comment about kids being there (apparently you need to be over 21 to enter after 3PM which is pretty wild).
Then, the unprecedented. The hostess proceeded to slam the door shut and we heard the lock click behind her. We all just stood there confused. Not even a minute later, a customer tried to exit through that door but the hostess instructed her to leave out the back before slamming the door and LOCKING IT again. No explanation. No acknowledgement. Just pure shenanigans.
Like I said, I never leave these reviews. If you wanted to close earlier on the 4th of July that’s completely fine, just don’t advertise being open until 10. At the VERY LEAST don’t ignore waiting customers and lock the door in their face.
Absolutely wild. So glad we didn’t spend a cent...
Read moreWhat the heck is this place? I hate to be rude but honestly though. My husband and I have a favorite lodge we frequent and arrived a little later than normal this past weekend. Our usual favorite spot, Three River's Resort and Convenience Store, was unfortunately closed so we ventured to the next closest restaurant...which also unfortunately was Blakeslees. We stood waiting by the front door for I don't even know how long because there's a large sign that reads, "PLEASE WAIT TO BE SEATED." I'm not sure if they are understaffed, but there were 3 other tables with patrons and 3 servers. So I'm not quite sure why the wait was crazy. Anyways, let's move on to the "food". We decided to order some fried pickle chips. Not only were they $9.99 and arrived in a container the size of half of a red solo cup, but the majority of them were just the breading. By "them" I mean the one whole pickle in the cup. Might I add when they arrived, they were thrown onto the table on top of the local menu my husband and I were reading. (The server's attitude even caught him off guard.) Next we get to the main course. I ordered the Super Chicken, and my husband the Elk Burger. The fries each meal arrived with tasted fine, but they were cold. The Elk Burger was fairly unspectacular, but the Super Chicken was another level. The first few bites I wondered why the breading was tooth breakingly hard to chew. Finally pulled the bun off to find the bottom of the chicken was completely burnt and black. The charred pieces crumbled off onto my plate (pictured). To top off this evening, we were brought the wrong bill (which had no food on it; only shots and alcohol which we did not order any of). Glad we learned our lesson though and will grab a snack from the local gas station next time we're up in Forks. This place was a total bust from...
Read moreIf you need food and a bathroom to recharge after a rough day they are the only place open after 8 or 9 PM so be thankful and kind.
We were passing through, staying in La Push for a few nights but hadn’t arrived there yet. We needed food & a clean bathroom!
The story:
I’m Autistic, we had been rockhounding or driving for about 9 hours. We were wind & sun burned, exhausted and hungry. They were open so I bit my lip and walked into a bar.
By the time we got to the restaurant it was an hour before they closed but thankfully they were open and the restaurant side was fairly quiet. My family was worried when we walked in because loud music was playing. I had just about reached my sensory input limit for the day.
Food and service were okay, I think we were a little disappointed with the portion sizes but it was food and they had clean bathrooms!!!! We were very thankful for the clean bathrooms!!!! Unfortunately for us mirrors too 🤪.
The service wasn’t bad but wasn’t fantastic. They got everything right and were very friendly but I think they were as tired as we were so I’m not knocking them at all. I’d bet they were more chipper at the start of their shift as we were at the start of our journey. At least they weren’t super peppy and fake. I will take an honest tired waitress over a fake happy one ANY DAY!
Overall they are open later than other places, they were clean, correct and quick. Can’t ask for more.
Didn’t get a picture of the food, we were too tired to think of that. Oh and some of the tables were cute and perfect for...
