Not...bad
What was initially most appealing about this place at the time was, it was open. Whereas; my two favorites, Umberto's and Amore were closed.
The pizza looked and smelled fine to me. And the crust seemed hand tossed. One reviewer described the pizza was "greasy" and "flaccid" [That's what she said!]. Anyway, as far as bring flaccid. I too noticed how soft it was. You have to let it cool down to stiffen up. It was right out if the oven. So that really wasn't a problem.
I didn't however; find their pizza particularly tasty. It seemed bland and almost flavorless. And then when I took another bite, I noticed a slight taste of something, freezer burn. But as stated just slightly.
Something in their ingredients was likely frozen and thawed. My guess is the crust. I can't vouch for the accuracy of this test. However; someone I know who grew up in Manhattan told me that, if you pinch a pizza crust and it immediately regains its shape, it's fresh. Whereas; if it remains crushed, it's frozen. So I applied this pseudo-scientific technique. And the crust remained flattened after a slight pinch.
As far as being "greasy" I didnt find it greasy at all. There was however a lot of moisture, again this is likely because the dough was frozen and thawed.
The prosecution rests your honor.
So there is evidence (though not proof) that the dough in question is frozen. So says the Sherlock Holmes of pizza. This is my life now. I'm so bored, I'm conducting pizza investigations. Yeah, I sent the cheese samples off to the lab. We'll get the results back in a few days.
If I'm right about this. Is it a common practice with this place? Given the high # of credible positive reviews, I'd say probably not. But for the price, next...
Read moreI made an attempt to call the restaurant and simply give my verbal complaint BUT SINCE I WAS SO RUDELY HUNG UP ON @ 11:22pm on 12/7 by the guy that answered the phone i decided to leave this horrible review for everyone to see.
I have been throwing up and vomiting a ALL DAY!
I ordered some Shrimp Scampi thru door dash and it was way too oily. Like OILY!!!! No butter. No white wine. Literally just oil. There was just a tray of oil, noodles and shrimp and tomatoes. And it had a great flavor. The shrimp were not spoiled. It was just OILY! It came with a salad that was wilted, didn’t bother to eat that. It also came with 3 garlic rolls. Now the sauce for these rolls looked like cheap imitation liquid margarine with garlic tossed in it. This was the first time I had such horrible food. I have ordered it before and it was amazing. But this time it was horrible. So the first warning is that they have different cooks. The food is good but not consistent. You will get something great once and sub par the next time. Now mind you, the food is so good that I’m willing to order it to see if the good cook was there. Lol. While I appreciate the fact that this is a good restaurant that is open late with great food THEY SIMPLY DROPPED THE BALL LAST NIGHT. And I really didn’t want to say anything. I called in just to let them know that whoever cooked that food last night needs to be taught how to cook it the house way. But that man that hung up on me by saying WE ARE TO BUSY TO TALK TO ANYONE IF YOU WANNA PLACE A ORDER GO TO BAYVIEWGRILL.COM OTHER THAN THAT YOU HAVE TO CALL BACK. He was just rude.
I am willing to delete my review but I was very dissatisfied with the double slap in my face. Bad food and bad...
Read moreMy husband and I order from Bayview a lot. A lot may actually be an understatement. It's kind of a constant in our lives. We have very busy work schedules that overlap so we get home at different times, myself getting in usually late and my husband waits for me to eat, though by then, neither of us feel like cooking. So Bayview is a staple in our lives. Their menu has such a wide range of foods that it's easy to order several nights a week and not repeat a meal....though I often do as their chicken bacon ranch wrap is a favorite of mine. Tonight I decided to branch out and ordered chicken parm and baked ziti as their dinner special. You're supposed to pick three items but they let me double up on the chicken parm because that and the ziti was all I wanted. Having terrible acid reflux, I ordered it with light sauce and extra cheese but when it arrived it was the exact opposite. It was swimming in sauce with very little cheese. I called Bayview and explained and they immediately apologized and offered to make me a new meal and deliver it right away. Within a half an hour I had a new dinner, made perfectly to my specifications, along with two cookies for the mistake. They didn't even ask for the original wrong order back, they just made it right and my dinner was delicious as it always is from Bayview. They will continue to be a staple of our ever busy lives, but tonight they truly went the extra mile and it's extremely appreciated. I wish I knew the name of the man I spoke to when I called so I could thank him personally, but I didn't catch it. Whoever you are, thank you so much for fixing things and understanding that even people with acid reflux love Italian food and just need a...
