This relatively undiscovered gem of a diner is located unassumingly in a rather long strip mall on Oakland Park Blvd in Ft. Lauderdale east of the Target (Coral Ridge) shopping center (on the south side), and west of Bayview Ave. It is owned by the chef, who is as nice and talented a chef as they come. The menu, tho not as extensive as some, still offers an ample variety of breakfast fare, egg dishes, hot open sandwiches, deli-type fare, burgers, melts, Reubens, delicious desserts, plus a staff that is pleasant, helpful and caring beyond the norm. The atmosphere is simple but warm, with the kitchen open to view. They serve the best chicken salad anywhere that can be the basis of an array of mouth-watering sandwiches, typically including crisp bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese of your choice, with sides of Cole slaw, sour pickle, and an order of perfectly done French fries. Today I tried his "Bayside Special Turkey Melt," which was made of nicely sliced white meat turkey, with a complementary piling of tomatoes, bacon and American cheese grilled on rye bread, with all the sides and fries. It instantly became a favorite. And he will substitute any item for something you prefer, excelling at made-to-order items. I've been there any number of times now, and have never had anything less than freshly made with fresh ingredients, with individual care and enthusiasm dishes. Great food and a great place. AND prices are reasonable! It is definitely worth...
Read moreThe food was OK and I’m only giving four stars because the lady was really nice, I ordered and I told the lady well done eggs literally like five times and I still got wet eggs, that was very disappointing because literally wet yolk makes me nauseous and the yolk was wet in my eggs after telling her so many times well done eggs, Not only that she kept mentioning something about French toast that I did not understand so I just shook my head Yes because I did not want to keep asking her to repeat herself. When I get my French toast I see that it looks like a fried egg was glued at the top so I think there was a misunderstanding somewhere. She was really nice so it’s OK. I know it was an honest mistake.. BUT ONE THING I CAN SAY, IN THERE SMELLS AWFUL. LIKE AWFUL, You guys really have to do something about that smell because honestly, if I didn’t already order my food ahead of time if I would have walked in there and smelt that I would have walked out and not order at all. Now don’t get me wrong and there was very clean, but the smell is horrible and that would definitely turn someone off so I definitely think you guys should see what that smell is. It didn’t even smell like food. It was a horrible smell that shouldn’t be in...
Read moreThe Bayview Diner at 2712 E. Oakland Park Bl, Ft. Laud is just that, an old style, non-pretentious diner that started in 1995 in an average 1-story strip-plaza. A charming, non-pretentious diner with a plain, simple atmosphere. It has all the decor (or lacy, thereof) and features that Hollywood would look for if they were making a 1940’s detective movie where Bacall, the villainess vixen sitting at the counter sipping on a cup of coffee and would ask Bogie for a light.
A most pleasant female server greets you like a family member she hasn’t seen in years. I’ve been going there for years and years and I’ve never been disappointed—the food is down-home excellent and most reasonable in price. Bayview Diner is the comfort food joint that attracts everyone from mail carriers, journeymen, delivery people, police, nurses, doctors, attorneys, and even me (nobody). Is it the best? Probably not, but it’s pretty darn goo for the modest pocket. Try them out for breakfast or lunch and you will not regret it.
PS: CASH ONLY. Also, Weird parking. the front of the plaza, 1/2 of the parking row is free, the other half tapering the plaza is metered (they also have parking...
