The Food was excellent. This was our first time having Haitian Cuisine - but for context we are Jamaican and Ghanaian so we understand what good seasoning and flavor. First off there is no printed menu, this to me says you’re going to get what’s fresh today. The lady at the front was very helpful. We told her this is our first time and asked for her recommendation. She suggested the the Fried Goat, Black Rice, and the fish (she recommended boiled - which is steamed fish in Jamaica). And we said yes!
The goat was my favorite. Boiled first, then fried and well seasoned was how she explained it. And surely she was right. It was beyond flavorful. She suggested we have it as a side and it came with fried green plantain (tostones styled) which was perfect with the goat. And also a salad.
The boiled fish was also delicious and a very close second. A different experience and absolutely excellent. Highly recommend.
The black rice is a must. Very delicious.
We took our meal to go. I don’t think this is a sit down spot although they did have a small counter and stools so we could have eaten our food there also.
If you’re in Fort Lauderdale you must try Haitian Food and this place is a good place to start. I would recommend that you call in your order as they do make the food fresh and you will wait. We waited around 30 minutes. But well...
Read moreWe checked this place out during our visit to Ft. Lauderdale for the Seminole powwow and I was not disappointed at all!
My husband had the legume and djonjon (black rice with mushrooms), my son had chicken wings and plantains, and I had white rice with sos pwa (black bean sauce). I am not usually a fan of restaurant Haitian food, but this was AMAZING, even down to the flavor of the plaintains. The only thing I didn't like was the barbecue sauce on the wings, but my 5-year-old ate it all.
They don't have printed menus or one visible, but so you should have an idea of what you want before you go. Also, they don't have all items listed on their website, but it's a good place to look in advance.
Our cashier was super helpful, patient, and friendly in helping us place our order. It was a bit of a wait after we ordered, but we expected it and know it was fresh. I recommend calling in your order ahead of time.
The building looks a bit rundown and there were some possibly homeless guys nearby, but it wasn't a deterrent. Note that the hours on their door say they're closed Sunday, but they are open!
I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for authentic Haitian food in the area and can't wait to...
