Boardwalk — Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale

I was physically assaulted by this extremely aggressive, rude, and super loud security manager. Just like the reviews below, I had heard some horror stories about this unbelievably poorly managed place but still gave it the benefit of the doubt and went there Friday night. I was minding my own business on the floor when this black security guy approached me from behind and delivered his deafening shouts into my ears to move without proving any reason as I was neither blocking anyone nor was I somewhere that had a sign stating not allowed. He was so loud and uncalled for that my heart dropped… During my short presence I saw a lot of illegal things going on at this place including people smoking all kinds of stuff all over the place … there was so much smoke that I needed to get some fresh air. As I was trying to step out for the second time I witnessed how this white security guy who appeared to be the security team’s manager told a lady “F… You” after she entered the club without paying the entrance fee. Needless to say not paying the fee does not justify that kind of language towards a customer regardless. I thought that’s not fair and shared my concern. Then the same black employee started shouting his lungs to my face, insulting me this time. After I told him to stop his utterly aggressive behavior he asked me to leave. I said I’ve already paid the fee and I’m not going to. He then said “you want your money back?” When I said yes he didn’t honor his word and kept insulting me. To my surprise and even though the young guy had seen everything he also told me to leave. I stepped out and asked to speak to a manager. The same white guy was called. After I politely spoke with him he gave me some unacceptable excuses and when I challenged him he started shouting his lungs out using the f word repeatedly. I started recording him but then he changed his language and started lying to the camera that I had caused problems and started to aggressively follow me and get super close to me. If there are cameras in that building which there should be his lies can be easily proven that I had caused problems. He was lying just to justify his unnecessarily aggressive behavior. As I was leaving he kept following me and despite multiple warnings telling him not to touch me he did just that against my consent and wanted to make me angry. He literally assaulted me. On top of everything he had already done he wanted to literally fight me. These people suffer from anger issues and should not have such jobs that can put people’s lives in danger with such behaviors. Anyways, I left to get in my car but he’d sent this other young black guy with long hair to show me some insulting hand gestures as I was leaving the parking lot. This is yet another terrible experience that’s being added to the long list of negative reviews below. I ask my LGBTQ+ fam not to go to this place as they will ruin your night. They are extremely aggressive, terribly rude, and can quickly choose to physically assault you. They don’t hesitate to insult you in any form or shape. They don’t even fake it to be nice and polite. If you are reading these reviews, you are doing like I do, trying to make a decision. Thus, thought it only fair I share also. Boardwalk is probability one of the best clubs I’ve been to, and I have been around a long time. Short version: Boardwalk is a great club. Excellent staff, dancers, food, and free parking. Longer version, for people like me who want as much info as possible and concerned about negative reviews. I feel like I’m in bizarro land, as none of these “negative” things are the reality I’ve experienced. I have been going to Boardwalk for over 3 years, whenever I come to Florida, sometimes going several times a week. I like the owner. I don’t know him personally, but I have watched him countless times interact with customers, most of whom know and like him in a very friendly manner. I have never seen him, or for matter any of the staff and dancers engage in offensive and unsafe behaviors towards the consumers. However, I have unfortunately seen some customers exhibit such behavior towards the dancers, bartenders and security staff. I liked the way the owner dealt with such situations, quickly, professionally and in a way that insured the safety and comfort of me, the other customers and his staff. I appreciate that. Being kept safe. I never saw violence and definitely no weapons on him or the security. In fact, the two security staff outside the past week, do a very tough job, with humor and good nature. The dancers are not cookie cutter Ken dolls, but look like real men, with rugged masculine natural looks, who do not just stay aloof on a stage, but mix and mingle, which I like, as I have found the dancers to be really nice guys. The kitchen staff cook good food, and are extremely welcoming, always saying hello to me as I walk by to enter the club. I could go on and on about the countess friendly and welcoming interactions I’ve had and witnessed other customers have with the staff I’ve already mentioned, and others, the lady at the front door, bartenders, security staff, and even the restroom attendant, but I think you get the point. Unfortunately, usually people only write reviews or sent letters when they have a negative experience, or ax to grind, but if you have had a good experience, you usually do not. That is why I decided to write this review, as I believe I speak for the overwhelming majority of people who come to and really love Boardwalk and it’s not fair to the owner and the people who work there for their reputations to be tarnished. It ironically is also not fair to you, as you will be depriving yourself of a really good time if you don’t visit Boardwalk. Thus, I suggest you don’t listen to me or others on a website, but go yourself, and make up your own mind. Sorry for the long review, but a lot of things were said, and wanted to address it all. BTW. Very disrespectful how the owner came outside and stormed at me for smoking when so many people were in the building smoking Marijuana. I'm very appalled about how nasty the owner yelled at me and kicked me out of his astablishment when I Cleary was already outside smoking. I've never had issues with this astablishment but tonight was just clearly uncalled for. The amount of disrespect I Recievd when there's more than one person in that establishment that do drugs in the bathroom and smoke Marijuana and cigarettes in the building when they clearly have an entire balcony (which was closed). I was very respectful but the owner still gave me the most disrespectful attitude. I understand the precautions and rules of the building, I understand that he could possibly lose his liquor license I understand but to have your security come out when it's me and 3 other friends of mine like we were fighting or causing commotion. We were all at a table outside smoking. To some up my review thrower of this astablishment needs to know how to address individuals, if you're the "owner" or "manager" on duty at a club that is serving alcohol after 3am you should know how to handle customers, not saying i was drunk and incompliant but the way you handled the situation was very uncalled for and I hope you guys learn customer service. It's not about how many people you can pack into your establishment. My experiences are always amazing but the management sucks and are very rude and disrespectful and the security guards gallows whatever he says and they continue the exact behavior as the owner.
