This is seriously a hidden local gem. Driving by, you would have never guessed this spot offers amazing platter combos at amazing prices with great drinks. They have private parking on the side which is nice and super convenient. Coming from NYC, if we find a place with their own parking spot, we will definitely return again. These ginormous platters will blow your minds. Finding a good bbq pit isnโt easy on the East coast. We start off with some fun mocktails. I got the piรฑa colada, while my bf tried their berry mojito drink. The piรฑa colada was super refreshing and creamy. And the berry drink was refreshing and light. We highly recommend trying the berry drink, kids and adults would love it! We came in knowing we wanted the Combo B. You get the best of both worlds, a variety of meats and cajun seafood boil. We also ordered a side of creamy mac and cheese. Honestly for only $4, we gotta say, it was the best mac n cheese ever. It was the creamiestttt side ever. A side like that at any restaurant in NYC will cost you $8. The extra cheese on the side will cost you $4. We thought this place really gave you a bang for your buck. The meat platter and seafood boil finally came. The meat one came with, Brisket, Pulled pork, Spicy thick slab bacon, Sausage, Beef rib, Baby back ribs, Chicken quarter & 3 Sides (Cornbread, Coleslaw, Baked beans). The brisket was so tender and flavorful, we didnโt even need to add extra bbq sauce. The pulled pork was absolutely delicious. The thick bacon brings me back to a good Kansas City BBQ. The beef ribโฆ omg do not even get me started. The meat literally slid off the bone. I had a salt bae moment. The chicken was also extremely juicy on the inside and not drying at all. Overall the meats came in a variety of pork beef and chicken. The sides that came with the meats were also delicious. The baked beans reminds me of a bbq I had in the midwest. It was THAT good. The coleslaw was light and I wouldnโt want to balance out my meal any other way. The corn bread was soo good, I usually do not like corn bread but Oiso changed my mind. The seafood boil consisted of Snow crab, Craw fish, Shrimp, Clam, Mussel, Calamari, Sausage, Shell pasta, Corn, and Potatoes. The seafood was fingerlicking good. We got it with the cajun sauce which gave it a little kick. The seafood was extremely fresh. I actually never had a boil with shell pasta before, it was definitely an ingredient to include. We loved everything here. We were actually extremely full mid way and was ready to go into a food coma. There was SO much food, we recommend sharing the combo B platter with a few friends. This is a great place to come in, enjoy some food and drinks while chatting it up. The service was extremely good as well, our server was so nice...
ย ย ย Read moreThe restaurant has a great look about it. A small bar upfront and a fairly spacious dining area in the back. The bbq pit is right outside in the back parking lot. It is a beautiful barrel grill. You can smell the bbq all around you. That part is fantastic.
The bbq itself was good. Nothing in the north is ever as good as down south. But this is a great option when you can't get below the Mason-Dixon Line. The meat had beautiful smoke lines. My favorite thing was the smoked slab bacon--AMAZING smokey flavor! In addition to that, we had the meat platter, so we got to taste a little bit of everything. All the meat was yummy; the brisket was my favorite, tender and juicy. The platter came with bbq beans and coleslaw. The beans are unconventional but tasty. We ordered a side of mac and cheese which went quickly; we had to order a second. Avoid the cornbread... reminds me of my grandmother's--able to kill a man with one swing (aka hard and dry as a brick).
We also had the seafood boil, and unfortunately this is where I deducted a star. My feeling is do the thing you do to the best of your ability. This is clearly a bbq spot. I have no idea why they felt compelled to offer seafood boil too. While it was ok, it wasn't anywhere close to the bbq in taste. I wouldn't order it again. There are so many awesome spots for seafood boil, this felt like an unnecessary waste here. Now if they wanted to do some bbq seafood, hell yeah! And I really hope they do.
Sorry I don't have pictures to offer. I usually take pictures but on this visit we had two very busy toddlers with us. We could tell that the staff isn't quite children aware. It's an interesting thing when you get the "deer in headlights" look from your servers. They weren't quite sure how to adapt to our party. That was fine though, as we had experienced adults in our party to smooth the way. I would recommend leaving the kiddos at home, it's more of an adult atmosphere.
All in all a good experience. What's more, there is an AMAZING park just down the street that overlooks the Hudson River. I would get take out from the restaurant and go down to the park. Good food in a...
ย ย ย Read moreA solid bbq spot in fort lee, but could be better. Maybe I am too critical, but it's my review after all :) I ordered combo platter A: chicken, sausage, pull pork, spicy thick cut bacon, beef brisket, beef ribs, pork ribs, with corn bread, beans and cold slaw as sides. Here are the details: Chicken: surprisingly their bbq chicken is really good. The flavor has penetrated even the thickest part and the meat is very tender and moist, not dry at all. I didn't need any sauce for it. Beef ribs: juicy, tender and peppery. A great piece of beef rib. However, it's not smoky enough like the real Texas style ribs. That's the only area for improvement that I would like to see. Flavor wise it's well marinated and I love the black pepper crust with a little char on the outside. Overall one of the best tonight. Pull pork: moist, a well balance of fat and lean meat. Flavor is lacking a bit, I suggest more vinegar. This dish definitely needs their spicy bbq sauce. The sauce adds much needed flavor to this dish. Sausage: the kielbasa sausage here is good. Well balanced flavor and smoky. Not the best that I have had, but I am comparing with real polish kielbasa from brooklyn. Spicy thick cut bacon: one of the highlight here. Spicy level, 1 out of 5. The bacon was peppery, moist but not overly greasy, smoky and caramelized to perfection. A must get item here. Beef briskets: usually this item should be the crown jewel of any bbq joint, but I have to say it's both good and bad at the same time. Make sure that you ask for thick pieces. Our order had two pieces, a thick one and a thin slice. The thin slice was dry and tough, which I had it first and almost chuck the whole thing. Then I tried the thicker piece. It was moist and tender, melted in my mouth without using my teeth. The flavor was great. I think the thin piece was either sitting around for too long or it was a edge piece. Not quite sure but man they were different. Overall, a decent place to kill your bbq craving. But it definitely has room for...
