I read some good reviews about this Korea restaurant so I’ve decided to try this gourmet food . When I arrived at this restaurant seeing restaurant hygiene too dirty, if I have known this restaurant was not good for dining, I would not have been there. Why I stayed at this restaurant because I am very hungry. And also have a parking lot. I ordered three courses, first one was BBQ ribs $22.99 that didn’t bring to our table at the last minute; second one was beef ramen 🍜 $15.95 , ( this course no beef at all , only one small portion noddle inside the bowl); third one was beef bibibom $13.95 ( I could not find any beefs inside the bowl, nothing could be seen ) and the food portions were really smaller than others Korea restaurants, and the price is more expensive than other restaurants ,the BBQ rib had not been cooked for us, we talked to the waiter we ordered a BBQ, and we were told that they did not receive an order, exactly we did ordered a BBQ ribs, the waitress did not tell the kitchen to cook the BBQ ribs , she made a mistake, and no one refilled the hot yea for us, we were very thirsty, I waived the waiter to refill hot tea, but no one coming. We were not satisfied with their service, and the waitress never came to our table say apology , only put a check on the table, that’s it! What a ridiculous customer service was! Bad customer service! I tried too many Korea foods, so kong dong is the worst Korea restaurant I tried, I don’t know why the people write some good reviews for this restaurant. It's fake good reviews, don't trust it!! I don’t recommend this Korea restaurant to the consumer, don’t go !!! Save...
Read moreMy cousin and I wanted something warming after walking around Ft. Lee Historic Park in 30° weather, and So Kong Dong was a short walking distance from this park. The two of us shared three dishes, as well as the bonchon. We ordered the Dumpling Tofu Soup (spicy), the Dolsot Bibimbap, and the Ginseng Chicken Soup. All three of these dishes, as well as, the bonchon, were delicious.
The Dumpling Tofu Soup has good heat and flavor. They give you a raw egg to crack into the boiling stone pot. It was the perfect complement to the stone-cooked white rice that comes with it, and it really knocked the cold out of us! The Dolsot Bibimbap was a nice combination of fresh ingredients and crispy rice. They gave us a squeeze bottle of gochujang, but we liked eating the Bibimbap without the sauce to keep it light tasting. The Ginseng Chicken Soup tasted deliciously homemade and gave us a nice warm feeling. They use fresh ginseng root, which is bitter if you eat it, but the soup has more of the chicken flavor and no bitterness. They put an entire young, spring chicken, stuffed with sticky rice and a fresh date inside the soup to create this delicious broth. After being boiled down, one would assume the chicken would have lost all its flavor and be dry to eat, but it was tender and easy to eat. They also give you a salt and sesame mixture to dip your chicken into for additional seasoning, but we also did not use this, preferring the clean flavors already present in the stone pot.
The two of us finished everything and nearly had to roll ourselves home, but we both agreed, So Kong Dong was worth another visit...
Read moreI recently visited So Kong Dong and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The ambiance is nice, providing a comfortable backdrop for a delightful meal. The food was absolutely delicious, and I couldn't stop raving about our order: Pork Sundubu, Korean Cold Noodles, Fried Tofu with Sweet and Sour Sauce, Kimchi, and Kimchi Cucumbers.
The Pork Sundubu stood out with its wonderfully umami fermented flavor. It was spicy, and the pork was distinctly flavorful. The broth was a bit thicker, which I really enjoyed, making it a very delicious bowl of tofu soup.
The Korean Cold Noodles were also a highlight. The cold noodles had a great tang, and the broth came out frozen and icy, adding an interesting texture. The fruity flavor was a pleasant surprise, and the noodles were super chewy with plenty of pickles, making it incredibly refreshing.
The Fried Tofu with Sweet and Sour Sauce was another winner. The outer fried area of the tofu had a great potato starch chew, and the sweet and sour sauce with the vegetables stuck to it perfectly, coating it with amazing flavor. You could really taste the veggies too.
Their kimchi was amazing, with perfect seasoning and fresh cabbage that was sweet, peppery hot, and full of umami. The kimchi cucumbers were thickly sliced, sour, umami, and spicy—simply delicious.
Overall, So Kong Dong offers great Korean food, and it's one of the best I've been to. All their food and flavors were spot on. Highly...
