Pure Bliss is by far the best yoga studio in the area. I started my yoga journey to help de-stress and find mental clarity. Thanks to Zeni, Brian and the entire Pure Bliss team, I have found SO much more. Of course new friends and new experiences (love the sound baths! More on that in a sec!), but also a more grounded, present approach to life and dealing with all its challenges.
Pure Bliss takes a holistic approach to yoga - it’s not just a studio where you come in, move your body for 60 minutes and leave. Each class begins with a short meditation and breath work, which helps you to be present. Intention setting is encouraged. Classes are organized by level - my favorite Bliss Flow (Level 1/2), Radiance (2/3), Ashtanga (3+) and so on. All of the teachers - especially Pei, Aiko, Loren, Lateefah and Brian - are incredible and know how to tailor each class to meet the needs of students who are present.
Pure Bliss hosts amazing, affordable events for its community - from concerts, to holiday bazaars, to my personal favorite, Sound Baths. The Sound Baths are intentional by nature, occurring around Full Moon, Lunar New Year and so on. My husband and I attended the Lunar New Year Sound Bath last night - it was incredible! Nicole and Zeni took the time to ensure ALL students were settled in and comfortable. We were offered plenty of props and even journals/pens for intention setting. The class began with a brief education on the power of sound to heal your body and what the Year of the Snake could bring. I, along with most of my fellow students, appreciated the context and education around the WHY of sound healing. The event was scheduled for 7-8:30, but we were treated to a bonus 15 minutes of sound healing. For $35, there is absolutely no other comparable experience in the area - highly recommend!!
Practical info on the studio: Plenty of free parking. Memberships are affordable, around $120/mo for unlimited in person and virtual classes. You can buy class packages too. Class times are very accommodating, with lots of options ranging from 6:15AM for us corporate girlies who have to get to work, to 7:30PM Yin classes to wind down after a stressful day. Studio is clean and inviting. All you need is your mat - the studio offers Manduka props, including bolsters, blocks, straps, etc.
The Pure Bliss community has made such a positive impact on my life - and I can’t recommend this studio...
Read moreI have never taken a yoga class so i was a bit nervous. The instructor Kaori was very thorough, made me feel comfortable and confident. I didn’t expect it to be such a work out. It was also an extremely deep stretch which my body definitely needed. The class was full of people of all levels. They offer modifications for high level students. I recommend bringing a yoga mat, if you do not have one they can provide a loaner mat. I will definitely be back and try other class. I also noticed they offered classes virtually which live streamed during scheduled class times. Their classes are very reasonably priced. They offer an intro 2 week unlimited for $25. They also have a location in Edgewater. Their classes are from as early at 6:30am to the latest being 7:30pm on during the week. They do offer weekend classes 9am to 1pm on Saturday and 8:30am to 1:15 and one 5pm class at the...
Read moreJust finished a lunar new year sound bath. My bf and I arrived on-time, had to set up outside the circle, kind of far from the singing bowls. They ran out of bolsters. The owner allowed people to take 5 eye pillows so my bf and I got a paper towel as a substitute.
Event started at 7 and was supposed to end at 9. The organizers did not seem organized (setting up for a while) and spoke for 45 minutes about nonsense. At 8:30 the owner gave a cut the throat signal for the musician to end things early.
I think that the owner was trying to make as much money as possible and oversold the event bc she didn’t have enough supplies and space and that she wanted to end early so she could go home. For $40 I was hoping for more service and sound bathing. Check out Loopwell in Montclair bc they...
