Eggty 8 Cafe — Restaurant in Fort Lee

Came here for a weekend brunch around 10:30 a.m. The place was pretty empty considering that it would be the prime time for brunch. We got seated right away.

Coffee au lait didn't have much of a coffee taste, just a lot of milk. Ice coffee was just bland. Nothing special.

Pancakes!! I saw three different types of pancakes - original, blueberry, and orange and walnut - and I chose the orange and walnut pancakes. It was $5 more than regular pancakes. Again, nothing special. Just pancakes with orange slices and very minimal amount of walnuts. The orange sauce was too tangy to go with the pancakes so I asked for maple syrup and butter.

My quest to find the perfect, fluffy, light pancakes would need to continue.

They forgot to serve us water.

There is a parking lot at the back of the building that is shared by 3 other stores. Very very limited parking. I street parked about 4 blocks away. Street parking are metered around this area, 4 quarters per hr except Sunday...

Just walk inside about 10 minutes ago on 8/5/17 12:35 pm ,walkup to counter did say nothing guy was on phone taking order another lady pacing back and forth tall lady english , so i wait till some is free to attend me , a korean lady walk inside and act as if see going to dine in mean while the pacing lady see me there waiting and attendes the korean lady then the lady tells her i not dining in to go give me menu so i till pacing lady you do see me here waiting for my turn and you act like if iam not even here mind you i live in fort lee and have been there over 30 times great place so she turns around and tells me you need to say something so i like you see me standing here and most of the time you walk in somewhere and you there attention and they tell you you have to wait she catches attitude man i tell you waiters if you hate your job look for another one dont act stupid so i left place one...

Disappointed with the experience. Went for brunch and was immediately put off when we were served drinks in dirty glasses—one even had a chunk of dust in it. The food was decent but nothing special.

The real issue came with the bill. A 20% gratuity was automatically added for a table of two, along with a 3.5% fee for credit card payments. While that in itself was frustrating, the way it was handled made it worse. The server handed over the payment machine while still holding the bill, and the machine prompted an additional tip of 20-25-30%. If you’re not paying close attention and don’t physically take the bill to check, you could easily end up tipping twice—just like I did.
