We've been here twice, after passing it several times, and are still torn. They have a great location and awesome atmosphere, but the kitchen and staff definitely take away from that. The first time we went, there were 5 of us, and it was my MILs birthday. The "hostess" that greeted us was anything BUT friendly or accommodating. Even giving us backlash after we asked for a bigger table, in a pretty empty restaurant. She tried cramming 5 of us at a very small 4 top table. After finally getting moved, we started the rest of our journey. We ordered a variety of drinks, appetizers, and entrees. Yazminn was our server, and took good care of us. Answering our questions and making awesome mixed drinks. Then our entrees started arriving.... my veggies came out ice cold and my baked potato was still hard. My MILs mash potatoes and veggies were ice cold. Then my hubby's burger came out. It was seriously the thinnest, overcooked patty that I've ever seen. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that the piece of cheese was thicker than the patty on this $14 burger. We thought it was a mistake, but when our server took it to the kitchen, she said that's the right patty size. When my MILs plate was returned, her potatoes were warm, but her veggies were still barely cooked and cold. When my salmon returned, the second potato was STILL undercooked, and my "sautéed" veggies were still ice cold. I made the server feel ine so that she knew we weren't just being picky. They DID end up comping those 3 meals. A few days later, my hubby and I decided to give it another try. We sat at the bar so that Yazminn could serve us again as she was the ONLY good thing about our first visit. We kept our order more simple, and I ordered a cold salad to try and fix one of the major issues from our first visit. My Chef salad was supposed to come with a standard boiled egg. Instead I got a HOT fried egg. Easy enough fix, just don't use it. My my hubby got a sandwich, and it just honestly wasn't good. The service was wonderful, and Yazminn makes great drinks. This place has the potential of being a 5 star, fully packed establishment, but they have so many little things to fix. Also, we noticed the younger, blonde manager on duty was very unpleasant on both visits. She has a very sour demeanor and is not welcoming in the least. I don't care how long she's been there, she would NOT represent my business with that attitude. We thought it was a fluke on the first visit, but realized that she just seems miserable on on our second. The older lady manager that helped us on our first visit was very pleasant and tried to make up for the many...
Read moreCool patio/outdoor seating area with a concrete fireplace, and a nice interior, although it was decorated for Halloween, so that's what my pics show. There was some framing in one corner that says they might be putting in an upstairs area in the future. The service... pretty slow, but I think she might have been the only server on the floor. The food was pretty disappointing and I think it was partly the server, partly the kitchen. I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger, rare-medium rare. I told the server "as rare as the kitchen is willing to make it, without it being cold". My 90 year old father ordered the Rio Grande burger, medium well. When our food came out, my burger was definitely medium well. My dad's was so rare, it had bloody juice running out and the patty was falling apart. I asked for mine to be remade. My father opted to just eat his as it was, to avoid the wait. The remade burger was still medium to med-rare at best. Maybe sometime in the future, if I'm back in Fort Morgan, I'll try Cables again. But maybe not. I got sick later in the day. Could be just...
Read moreI live in Sterling and Ive eating at this place off and on for like 15 years. I am a smoker, and on September 27 around 8 PM. I asked if they could sit me outside so I can smoke. I asked her if people could still smoke out outside, and she said yes the Hostess did. I was on the far right of the fireplace, near the cigarette dispenser. 10 minutes after I smoked my first cigarette, a teenage girl approached me, asked me to not smoke because she has asthma. Being a mother of a teenage daughter myself, I showed compassion and I said OK. This girl said that she could still smell my smoke, even though she was on the complete opposite side of the sitting area of the fireplace. in order to prevent future conflict, I recommend you put up a sign calling outside the designated smoking section. Or inform anyone who wants to sit outside that there may be smokers out there. as people who don’t smoke, have a choice whether they sit outside or not. Smokers do not have a choice. so please fix...
