UPDATE: 7/8/21 - UPDATE: Roscoe (Robert) Adams reached out to me after I posted a Google Review and explained the issue with his POS system. He agreed that he should have trained his staff on what to do if someone came in with a gift card. The resolution is that I am giving the gift card to my dear friend, Debbi Goodman Venturina, as she and her family have eaten there in the past. I texted her name to him so that when she presents the gift card, the staff will know they can accept it. After what we went through, my husband doesn't want to eat there but is happy that the gift card will be accepted. If there is a problem, Debbi and I will issue another post.
I won a Phatz gift card from a social media contest back in April. I picked up the $50 gift card in May. Phatz even liked the 4/28 post - see the screenshots. We tried to use the card on 6/14 for dinner at the Vero location and the server said only the Fort Pierce location accepts the card, even though both locations are on the back of the gift card. We tried using the card on 7/7 at the Fort Pierce restaurant. Our server was new, so she asked for help processing the card at the register. One of her coworkers looked at the card and rudely said, "We don't take those" and walked away. Another coworker told us that "her boss hasn't bought the machine to process the card" and that we had to pay the bill ourselves. How can they sell gift cards and then not honor them?! I called the company who gave me the card to let them know. Phatz has been selling these cards and even liked the post on 4/28 and we didn't try to use it until June. There was enough time for them to buy the machine to accept the cards. Do not spend your own money at this restaurant if this is what they do to people. Except for the server that helped us, the others were rude and dismissive. They didn't say they would call the owner or anything. They...
Read moreI wish I could give a four or five star for the food and a two star for the price but I can't so that is the reason for my 3 star. This place was highly recommended to me. I decided to try it; here is my experience. My brother and I got the seafood combo for 13.00 which I thought came with two sides and a drink. I guess I read the menu wrong. We both ordered the same thing (sides were fries and coleslaw) as well as an extra piece of fish each. We also ordered an appetizer of onion rings (8.00). When the bill came, after including the appropriate tip the bill was in excess of 60.00. When I received the receipt (after paying), I was upcharged 1 dollar a meal for the coleslaw (14.00 each meal). Adding the 8.00 for the onion rings and now we are at 36.00. I then see I was charged over 6.00 a piece for the extra piece of fish (over 12.00 for the two pieces). So for two 13.00 meals, the upcharge for coleslaw, one basket of onion rings and two extra pieces of fish we paid 48.50 before taxes and tip. Now, the food was perfect. Amazing taste and great portions, but over 60.00 for two meals (including taxes and tip). Oh, the bill itemized the two extra pieces of fish as two fish sandwiches. I did ask about this and was told the bill was correct. If you don't mind spending the money the food is great but 60.00+ for this meal was stupid on my part. My fault also because I didn't think to ask how much an extra piece of fish would be. I figured maybe 3.00 a piece but no,over 6.00...
Read moreSo I was sitting at Pierced Cider Works sipping my drink and the guys were going on and on about the chicken at Phatz. Established in 2011 by Robert and Tessa Adams, Phatz Chick-N-Shack has been serving chicken in the area for the last 8 years. On my latest trip to Fort Pierce I had to do scientific research to see if their chicken was really that good. The results are in and it's amazing!
I rolled up on a Saturday at dinner time and found the restaurant filled with people enjoying some good looking meals. I chose the 5 shrimp 2 chicken tender meal with fries, bread ,and large drink for $12.75. I added the coleslaw for a dollar more. They cook the food to order so if you don't call ahead be prepared to wait for 15 minutes for your food. It is well worth it because the food was so tasty. It was the best chicken tenders I have ever eaten. The breading was delicious and the meat was tender and juicy, not rubbery like you sometimes get. All of the meals come with their house made sauces. They had some sweet looking layer cakes for dessert but I was too full from dinner. Other menu items include tacos, salads, sandwiches, specialty waffles, and wings. Next time I want to try the chicken and waffles.
Phatz has another location in Vero Beach and a food truck. Please expand down to south Florida, we need you. I also think you could do an out of this world pairing with Pierced Cider Works. Phatz is serving up the tasty chicken in the...
