Always good food and service! Vietnamese food continues to be my least favorite of Asian cuisines. I struggle with the taste and smell of fish sauce. My excitement for Pho is limited too. But, for some reason, out of all the Vietnamese restaurants we have tried, I continue to return to the Green Papaya in south Ft Smith. My wife and I have been eating here since 2015. I have always been able to find something on their menu I really like that doesn’t have the overpowering pungent taste of fish sauce. On this visit, I may have found a Pho that I really like! The #8 Mi Thap Cam. A thin egg noodle soup with BBQ pork, shrimp, imitation crab meat and quail eggs. I really enjoyed this big bowl of soup. It was packed with the described meats, a couple of soft boiled quail eggs. The broth had abundant flavor. It was very good. My wife, the tofu expert had the #V7 Mi Xao Tofu. It had a great variety of vegetables and perfectly stir fried tofu. Another good meal! What I really like about this Green Papaya, in addition to the consistent quality of the food and service, is the cleanliness of the restaurant. Looking at the restaurant from the outside is deceptive. Inside you will find a modern attractive décor. The food is fresh and well prepared, with very good service in a...
Read moreThis has to be the worst experience I've had at Green Papaya, i usually go to the one on Grand but decided to visit the one on HWI 271 today. When I walked in, no greeting, no host, I ended up seating myself. It was around 3pm so the restaurant had no rush. The Hispanic waitress asked me what did i want for drinks then left without giving me the menu, she came back like almost 5 mins later with my drink and the menu then asked me if i knew what i wanna order yet, which she should have given me the menu in the beginning when i sat down, then come back with the water then ask me what do i want. I was rushed to order and food came out not even hot, broth and noodle dripping on the side of the bowl looking like i’m eating somebody’s leftover. Some old man sitting in the corner tried to make eye contact with the waitress to get his water refilled but nobody cares about customers here. They didn't even ask if customers need anything during dining. I tipped the waitress still but totally didnt expect such terrible food and terrible service as well. Please train all these waitresses again, the ones on Grand Ave do way better. Their looks wont get they far in any restaurant with such terrible customer...
Read moreI don't believe I've ever gotten a bad dish here. My usual is a number 11, a chicken and rice noodle dish topped with fresh, crisp veggies and a crispy eggroll. The chicken and eggroll are always hot, the noodles warm, and the veggies cold and crunchy. Their spring rolls are my absolute favourite in the city and they come with peanut sauce (not tamarind sauce, thank god) for dipping. The chicken pho is to die for, especially when you're sick. I got some the other day and had enough for two meals! And when you get it in the restaurant and need to take home the leftovers, they separate the broth and the noodles/whatever else you've added in, so the noodles don't get soggy.
The staff is almost always amazing; they have had a few lazy waitresses in the many years I've been going there, but they typically don't last very long. And the owners are always so nice and they remember you! They always tease my grandma and I about always getting the same dish.
This is probably one of my favourite restaurants in the whole city, especially since it's on the south side of town and...
