Went to The Railroad Cafe (Fort Valley) this morning to have breakfast because several people in another WR group said that they had the best pancakes in the area. They were right!!
As a AA new to the area and whose adjusting to living in a rural area for the first time. I was a bit apprehensive at first to go to a small town establishment so it took me a few weeks to actually go after reading the suggestions.
But let me tell you. I am so glad I took the chance. The food was amazing. It was so delicious😋. To me it wasn't like restaurant food. But something that Grandma would make in her kitchen. It was such a down south homey feeling just sitting there while enjoying my breakfast. Let me add the staff was equally amazing. The ordering process was a big shock seeing were use to being waited on in a restaurant. But after ordering and sitting down. There was no difference. They brought our food asked if we needed anything else and another employee came walking by maybe 10 min later and asked the same. I appreciate that seeing there were no wait staff. I appreciate the amazing dish, the hospitality and let me not forget the affordability which is thee most important part to my pocketbook 😊. It was my husband and I this time. But it will be my family next time. We will definitely be back.
Edit... I just warmed my leftover pancakes and omelet up from being in the fridge all day. It didn't...

Nice atmosphere was not overly impressed with the burger. Order the cheddar club MLT. It was $8.89 waited about 20 minutes for food and the burger was less than lukewarm . Almost no seasoning to the taste. Ate about half and gave up. Probably could have been good if it had a bit more seasoning and was actually hot and fresh when it got to the table. Keep in mind this was Friday there was no one in the restaurant getting food when we arrived . We were the only ones in line. All the other patrons were seated and eating. Not sure why our food was not hot.
May try one more time and just order something else. Really wanted to like the burger after hearing such good reviews but very disappointed. It was underwhelming.
I did have a small chili it was tasty. And the pickle was tasty.
We also ordered peach tea from the menu. I guess our mistake we assumed it was fresh tea but we were surprised to be handed a bottle of Lipton peach tea. Would have nice if the cashier told us before...
Read moreThe Railroad Cafe is a wonderful establishment to stop, sit down, and enjoy a quality breakfast or lunch. My stepmother and I were impressed by the architecture of the building, which looked like it was an old train station a long time ago. The cafe is nestled in downtown Fort Valley. The tall window we sat across from allows you to see the landscaping with bright green grass, palm trees, and an acasional slow-moving train that passes by.
The food was excellent as I ordered two fried eggs over medium (cooked to perfection), grits (very rich and creamy), bacon, and toast. My stepmother had the same, but with a sausage patty, which was tasty too as she shared a piece with me. I drank water, and she had coffee all under 16 dollars minus the tip. The staff and our server were very helpful and pleasant. The atmosphere was great, and the other customers were respectful...
