Great spot. Dropped in first time with my wife and mom after taking mom for cancer follow-up. Friends had been telling us for weeks that food was good, but we were not getting out because of Covid-19 restrictions. This was perfect day to try, as my mom LOVES Indian food. (She spent several months there on a mission trip and traveled all over south India). We were happy they were practicing social distancing and had taken several tables out of service. They encouraged reservations which meant they were assuring customers they would not be overcrowded and to minimize any exposure risks . On entering, were greeted by William, he was gracious and also served our meals and answered our many questions. The food was amazing. Generous portions and a wide variety of choices and tastes. Each dish is individually prepared and they ask each customer their level of spice. On the subject of 'spice', we tried several dishes and the flavors were unique. they use a myriad of authentic Indian spices. The tables had three placards describing many of the spices and their traditional use as well as health benefits. We began with a starter (Holi 65) which is crispy-fried chicken pieces in spiced rice flour served with grilled onions and toasted nigella seeds from Indian sub-continent, (fennel seeds?), fried curry and ginger leaves, as well as a mixed cabbage garnish. The plate was dusted with a unique spice (not a curry) but very tasty. Served with a choice of mint sauce or sweet tamarind sauce.
For our mains we tried three different entrees and shared. Each dish unique and flavorful. I am anxious to try their other offerings. They have a huge selection of vegan and gluten-free options as well as traditional shrimp, chicken, and lamb. I should also mention that the portions were generous. We all took go-boxes home as we were stuffed and happy. The basmati rice is real deal... Not clumpy or dry. it was perfect. I will try the biryani on my next visit. I had my traditional chicken tikka masala. Rich yogurt-marinated chicken breasts in a creamy tomato-based sauce with a hint of curry. I should also mention EACH dish made to order. They are not just ladling sauce out of a big pot. They adjust the spice and level of 'heat' to each person's taste. We found out Chef Manish does all the cooking as we were impressed enough to ask. My mom tried the Chicken Korma, tender chicken breast pieces in a mildly spiced curry sauce made with cashews that are ground fine into a paste. Buttery and delicious, it was my wife's favorite sauce, but she opted for vegetarian. She had the Eggplant Bharta which was smoky and tasty. Green peas, char-grilled eggplant in a tomato-based sauce. Hearty and filling (even though wife ordered, it was my mom's favorite). We noticed a number of take-out orders and several airmen carrying large bags of food back to the base. If you are nervous about getting out, call and order for take away. If you read my review later, I hope you'll try something new other than this area's usual fried frozen seafood and countless Thai places. Try the garlic naan! Yummy bread baked in a traditional...

Read moreI've been to Holi multiple times. They are a great option for vegetarians; if you are one, there are lots of meatless items on the menu. Expect an interesting appetizer at the beginning of your meal; you will receive a basket of what we call, "packing peanuts", along with two little dishes of dip. These packing peanuts are actually some sort of rice cake concoction, but we like to joke that they're serving us the packing peanuts from their food delivery boxes. It's very unique; I've never eaten packing peanuts before and I do look forward to receiving them when I visit. Love their Lassoni Gobi (a great option if you enjoy a moderately spicy dish) and their Mango Lassi. Service has improved since they opened. In the beginning, it seemed that the servers were still learning the menu and working out kinks. The servers always tried their best, but it wasn't easy initially since the restaurant was inundated by the whole town coming by wanting to try them out. Interest has slowed since then, which is great for us as we do not have to wait half an hour for a table anymore. I would not disagree with other reviewers that Holi is a bit pricey; expect to spend about $60-$75 on dinner for two. The nearest Indian restaurant is about an hour away in Pensacola so it is not as if there is much price competition going on currently. The restaurant is nicely decorated; a lot of bright colors are dispersed throughout the dining area. Expect to see umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, pictures of people covered in rainbow dust on the walls, and Bollywood Dance videos playing on televisions. It is a nice atmosphere to sit, eat, and chat. My biggest and only issue with Holi is the fact that there is NO BUFFET! I have never been to an Indian restaurant that hasn't offered a buffet. It irks me every time that I visit because if I want to try a little of this and a little of that, I cannot do this without ordering multiple entrees. The lack of a buffet is what holds me back from leaving five stars, and also what keeps me from visiting more often. I implore the owners of Holi to consider instituting a buffet...
