Alberto's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Fort Wayne

Always enjoy the food at Albertos. Fresh and very tasty. I had an experience a few years ago where my dish somehow had what looked and felt like a bullet from pellet or beebee gun in it. I stopped going for a while then made my way back over. Just last night I ordered, arrived the 20 min later to pick order up, waited another 10-15 mins with many staff noticing me but none offering help. A gentleman was already waiting I arrived. After a time he went up and spoke with someone and a few min later a waitress gave him his food. It was the same thing I’d ordered about 30 min earlier now. No big deal, we both ordered same thing. So I get waitress/hostess attention shortly after the gentleman had left and I say I had a taco salad also (like where is my food, why I am still waiting on this order). She looks puzzled for a brief moment then says hold on while she scurry out the door to catch the gentleman who she’d given earlier order to! Since no one had even taken my money, needless to say I tucked my tastebuds under my tongue and left. Thats just scary, esp in today’s climate to think that she was perfectly okay getting a food dish from another person, who may have already nibbled in it and give it to someone else and with my knowledge of it. I passed her as I walked across parking lot to my car. She was talking to another customer (prob didnt clearly pay attention to how the gentleman looked) who had eatened in and had recently left. My most recent visit was very unfavorable. Please note that I visit there at least 4 to 5 times a month and up until this last visit the service/food was great. On this visit the food (beans and rice) were cold and salsa was runny. Not thick. When I brought it to the server's attention she got the owner. When I told him about my concerns he stated that the salsa could not be made to everyones personal liking and because I had taken a bite of the meal as well as my guest I would not be aloud to leave without paying for the meal. After a short discussion I went to the take out order station and proceeded to pay for the meal to avoid police involvement. I paid by credit card. However the person who took my payment was not the person who return with my receipt. Said person was the server who normally waits on me and she apologized and reversed the credit card payment. She further apologized but the owner whom I am familiar with never came back out to apologize after threatening to engage FWPD. Needless to say I will not be returning...

I have been here many times because the food is really good but whenever I visit I remember why I promise myself I won't go back. The service is terrible. Yesterday I waited an entire hour for 4 tacos. I ordered over the phone and I was told that it would be five minutes. Finally I asked for my money back and so the lady ran to the back and 30 seconds later appeared with my food. The lady said "sorry" (very insincere) as she handed me my food and walked away. I have never met an employee here who was nice. They huff and puff when you ask them questions and many times when you ask a question they'll tell you to speak to another employee as they walk away. Anyways, When i opened my box everything was spilled out of my tortillas like they put them in the box upside down and then just flipped it. Plus it was cold.
