Spyro's
Jean Giatras,
I have always enjoyed my visits to your restaurant on Jefferson Road. The food has always been excellent and the service has always been superior.
Maybe that is where the problem lies. My expectation of superior service from your establishment took a serious hit on Sunday (03/08/2015) from two of your long time hosts.
I expect to wait for a table. It goes without saying! Sunday mornings especially! When I checked in I asked for an approximate wait time. 20 minutes. No problem.
After having waited 40 minutes and being absolutely sure that I had watched three other small party groups get seated that came in after me, I want up and asked the tall slender young man where I was in line. He said there are two in front of you. Ok, I did not see how that was possible but ok.
We are now at the 50 minute mark. After the 3rd party was seated ...... I want back up and asked what was going on!
Now begins the truly disconcerting part.
Instead of owning the problem, the young man was visibly perturbed that I was back up there again.
When I explained to him that I had watched three more people get seated in front of me he said 'your next, what's the problem?' With a disgusted look on his face!
I again explained that my problem was I was told that there were only two people in front of me and I just watched three people get seated! He said who told you that? And I answered you did! His response was no I didn't.
Really? Speechless.....
During this the young lady hostess (long dark hair and glasses) walked up to the counter.
His response had frustrated me greatly, and I told him you're about to lose a long time customer here. The young lady chimed in and said 'okay"!
That, combined with the condescending furrowed brow stare I was receiving from the young man shocked me beyond words!
I could understand that sort of treatment! If I had been a troublesome customer in the past maybe! But I have not. I have waited happily, pay my bill promptly and tipped generously.
Great food and a wonderful wait staff is not enough to make up for terrible treatment from your host before you even get to your table.
I won't subject myself and my guests to that sort of treatment again. I was embarrassed...
Read moreVery nice, and friendly atmosphere and service. One issue we had were the eggs. The egg dishes are cooked in peanut oil. We almost didn't see the small notice on the menu. Something like this should be made VERY obvious. They do not allow for any substitutions for the eggs in a meal. For example my son wanted the biscuits and gravy meal that came with eggs. He asked if the eggs could be cooked without oil and they said no. Said all right. Can I have something in place of the eggs and they said no. Even if they would have been willing to give him say another biscuit with his biscuits and gravy he probably would have been happy with that. It was more expensive to order the biscuits and gravy as a side than it was just to order the meal and say leave The eggs off. I order a veggie omelette and when it came it was very shiny. The first bite was just a mouthful of cheese and oil. It's the only time I've ever had eggs in peanut oil so I don't know how it compares pairs. It definitely was not something I would order again. I would eat here again. I just won't order eggs there again. They were just not very flavorful. They were kind of greasy. I do it. Compliment them though. FIRE when we shared that to please make sure that my son 's food would not be cross-contaminated with something used on the eggs. I said this is not just a preference for him. We will be leaving for the emergency room if he accidentally gets peanut oil. And they very reassuringly said the eggs are cooked in a separate part. Nothing will be cross contaminated and he felt confident eating there and he had...
Read moreI used to love Spyro’s, it was always great food with great service. After they changed their hours it was a bit annoying (I’m an early riser) they used to be open early, now 7 am is the new early. Although the new hours was annoying the food and service was still great so I kept coming back. Recently though the portions are not as big as they was, the food and service was still great so I kept coming back. Unfortunately that’s not the case anymore and I won’t be going back. This time the food was different, not just smaller portions. There was considerable less cheese on my omelette that was already smaller than it previously was. The omelette was dry with very little cheese and even smaller than before, along with barely room temperature hash browns in which was half the portion it used to be (no exaggeration). When paying for the food we was asked “how was everything” I was honest and said it was not as good as it used to be. I had hoped the cashier would have responded be he did not. After an awkward moment of silence I commented that no one cares about our experience, at that point he briefly responded with no apology, just a quick what was wrong. It was very clear to me he didn’t care. I’m tired of not getting what I used to get from places and being forced to just accept what places want to give. I miss what Spyro’s used to be, unfortunately now after all their changes I will not...
