We drove up to Ft Wayne from Louisville for the weekend to visit family. We usually have Mexican for dinner and we ate here once before, so we decided "Hey, we liked this before, let's do it again!" So we did.
It was nice to be seated immediately, especially on a Friday evening around 7pm. Our server (Jesus, according to the receipt. He didn't introduce himself) came over to get our drink orders and we asked for chips and salsa.
Away goes Jesus to get our drinks and chips and salsa while we peruse the menu. About 10 minutes later he came back to take our orders. My wife had fish tacos, I opted for the Enchiladas Super Mix (Five enchilada, one each cheese, chicken, beef, bean and shredded beef). Sometimes you're just in the mood for a plate full of enchiladas.
Our entrees arrived about 12 minutes later. The restaurant was busy but not swamped at that time, so it's a pretty good delivery time.
My wife's food was hot. Mine, on the other hand....not so hot. In fact, barely warm.
To be more specific, the cheese enchilada was cold. C.O.L.D. The chicken was a bit warmer, and the other three came in at moderately warm. (read that - Not Hot). While I hate to be "that guy" in a restaurant, I had to be "that guy" and asked Jesus to have it re-made. The temperature of the food made it very unappetizing and unhealthy.
Less than ten minutes later Jesus brought my food back out. I immediately knew it hadn't been re-made because the exact same piece of the cheese enchilada that I managed to eat was still missing. Remember, I asked for the food to be re-made. This was obviously not the case.
The plate was warmer, but the food was only marginally warmer. I knew exactly what they did. The plate was taken back, they scraped what tomato, lettuce, sour cream, and cheese they could off and put it under a warmer for a few minutes. Then they put new toppings on it. However, the lettuce that was left had gotten warm. Warm lettuce is gross. It is 100% gross and tastes terrible.
I had gotten the exact same plate of food back. I'm pretty sure there are health laws about re-serving the same food.
I was hungry after a 5+ hour drive so I ate it, but it was, in no way, appetizing or satisfying.
Jesus came by to ask if everything was better. My response was "marginally, but still not good" and he walked away. There were no follow up questions, no manager came by to see if things were better. None of that. A few minutes later he brought the check. We paid unceremoniously and left.
Our first visit to Casa Grande a few months ago was great. This visit makes me sincerely doubt if we'll go back. While the restaurant was clean and well staffed and people were hustling, my food was completely unsatisfying, mildly disgusting, and wholly...
Read moreStopped in today @ 1pm with the wife and our two kids. They were a little busy (6-8 tables) and it appeared they had two servers on the floor. Our server was a younger college aged man with dark hair, no facial hair with many tattoos on his arms and neck. Unfortunately, he never introduced himself so I don’t have a name. We waited a few minutes to get seated for lunch. After a few minutes, the server came back to take our drink order. The kids said they weren’t hungry as they had just eaten so we told the young man we were ready to order. We ordered two waters, queso & two meals off the lunch menu (even pointing them out to our server). Our serve didn’t write down our order so I thought, wow! He must be Good! A couple minutes later, he returns with one water and three straws? We hadn’t noticed he had only brought one water as we were entertaining our two young children but the wife asked him again for the queso. He replied, yes and immediately turned and left our table. Five minutes later we flagged him down and asked him for the second water and again, the queso. Ten minutes or so later he returns with our meals, queso and the second water. Never asking if we needed anything else, he turned and left once again. The wife’s burrito was chicken, not beef as she had ordered so we flagged him down again asking if the kitchen could remake it beef, as she had ordered. He acted inconvenienced but said he’d take care of it (no apology given). At the same time, we asked him for some more chips. Not wanting me to eat my meal cold, the wife told me to eat my lunch so we shared mine. Approximately 15 minutes later, our server brings her lunch without any chips. Again, the wife asked him for chips for her now cold queso. Once again, her burrito was chicken! At this point, we gave up. We asked for the bill and I went to the front to pay. Our server came over to ring me out and informed us they can only take cash. Fortunately, I had cash on me! It was then I realized the server charged us the dinner prices, not the lunch prices. When I asked about it his reply was “so you want the cheaper one”? I replied, I’d like to pay for what I ordered. I grabbed a menu and he made the adjustment to my wife’s meal. I asked him if he had adjusted mine as well. He then replied, “you want both of the prices on the cheap menu?” Again, I replied, I’d like to pay for what I ordered! I paid our then $26 bill and we won’t be going back!!! It’s too bad because we used to like going to...
Read moreMy husband and I went there for lunch today and the service was absolutely terrible. The waiter took forever to come to our table to take our order. Never offered me a straw for my drink. We ordered off the lunch menu and I made sure to point to what I wanted. When we finally caught him again I asked if he could bring some mild salsa and he never did. My husband had to get another employee to bring it to our table. Then when he brought our meals I realized that you get beans or rice not both and he never asked us which one we wanted and just brought us rice. I really wanted beans but because service was so slow I wasn't going to say anything. Also I had made it very clear to him when I'm ordering that I have a food allergy and I can't have onions. I asked if they could substitute bell peppers instead. I said if they couldn't just leave it off cuz I didn't want to pay extra for it. I didn't see any bell peppers but by the time I got to my second chimichanga I could taste the onions in it. I was very upset. I said something to the waiter and he just replied, "oh". Didn't apologize or offer to take anything off the bill for the mistake. Not only that when he did bring us the bill I saw that he charged me for the dinner plate and not the lunch special. I was going to say something to the host but when I went up to pay our bill there was a sign that said we had to pay our waiter. I was not looking forward to talking to him again. I told him the mistake he made. He basically said well it's too late you ate the dinner I served you so now you need to pay the price. I started to get indignant by that point. I said no sir I will not because I ordered from the lunch menu and I pointed out exactly what I wanted. So he had to go back twice to talk to his manager and he finally told me that I should just pay the lunch price in he will make up for his mistake by working it out with the manager. So instead of bringing me a new bill I had to sit there and figure out what the bill would be with tax. Luckily I had the exact amount with me and that's all I left him and he didn't get a tip. This whole experience was ridiculous and I will never go back to this place. The only reason I didn't rate it one star was because the food was halfway decent. But the service was terrible. Probably the worst waiter I've ever...
