I really reeeeeallly wanted this to be a good review, but it’s going to be an honest one. Went down on a Saturday evening a little later (8:30ish) and was surprised there was only one table with guest. I asked if they were closing and they said no to pick a seat. We were given menues and our waitress was quick to come grab our drink order. I’m not a drinker, so maybe that’s why I was expecting my drink to be a drink but it was a van served upside down Unopen in an empty glass. We went with an easy order of all quick fried foods. Order was: giant cheese stick, sweet potatoe fries, and an order of buffalo cauliflower. (Which was $9 itself so we were expecting a large platter, as most other sides were 2/4$) after waiting over 20 minutes (without a check in from anyone) our food was served. The cheese stick was so burnt we just kinda stared at it and the massive cheese that was leaking out (standard) but we tried to cut into it which wasn’t easy so we poked through the top and the log was solid crispy burnt. I understand it’s a huge log of cheese and needs to be cooked awhile so we chipped off a piece and tried to eat it but the taste was just pure burn, we also looked up the other posted photos to make sure we weren’t being ‘extra’. The fries were also burnt to the point they were hollow inside. We flagged our waitress and explained the situation and she returned the items to the kitchen, then to the group of men at the front area, then back to us to let us know they would remake one and was out of the other. By then we were just ready to go (45min total visit). Inside was cute, trendy, modern rustic style. Lots of open views and comfortable seating. But the food itself and the wait time (canned drinks and sides that should have been able to be fried in 5min) especially for being empty was just too much for me. I been waiting awhile to come try the cheese log so that was a bust but we will try again maybe on a busier day. Two canned drink a fountain pop and an order of...
Read moreThis place is wonderful! We went for lunch with friends and thoroughly enjoyed the food served by an awesome server named, Sav. We saw it mentioned as a new sit down restaurant at the Electric Works complex, decided to try it, and boy was I glad we did.
We arrived about 1 o’clock and it was not really full for a lunchtime crowd, but the restaurant is fairly new having only opened in March. I can imagine, with a full restaurant, it could get very loud in there. It was very clean. We were seated quickly and the waitress came over and took our drink orders right away. They had a special on a mystery flight of four of their own brewed beers for five dollars. The guys decided to share a flight getting two dark and two light options to try. We all had a taste.
This place smokes meat. Their special for that day included a three meat, two side deal. I got chicken wings (no sauce no rub) for two of the meats and brisket for the third meat. I chose a side salad and sweet potato waffle fries as my sides. I have been won over. This barbecue place rivals my all-time favorite. Since that one is in Florida, it is really nice to have such an excellent place up here in Indiana. It beat out my favorite one up here through not just taste but service also. My husband got the brisket melt. The other couple got a mushroom, Swiss burger and 2 brats with sauerkraut. The bun was slightly too big for the brats and sauerkraut; way more bun than necessary. But that is a minor issue.
As mentioned earlier, Sav is an excellent waitress and checked back with us often enough. She was great at giving suggestions on what to order between two choices and chose the beers after asking the guys what they liked and didn’t like. Ask for Sav...
Read moreThis is a great place! A definite boost for the Electric Works food scene. Finally, a place with good service, great classic food selections, and a super vibe.
The atmosphere is bright and open. The view of the Electric Works project sets you right in the middle of this expansive project. Despite being large and open, you can easily hear the people at your table. The view of the brewing operation is impressive to say the least.
The food is fantastic. One of the worst parts of the experience was trying to figure out what to order because the selections all look so good. The prices are very reasonable. Service was friendly and food was brought out hot and everything came in good time.
The smoked meats are outstanding. The smoked brisket in the tacos and sandwich was moist and flavorful. The wings are smoked first which gives them and amazing flavor. The quick deep fry they get before they are served makes the skin super crisp. Loved the dry season (sweet heat) and the wet (sweet bandit) that I had.
I loved their XXL pretzel with beer cheese and spicy mustard. The pretzel is definitely a shareable app. It’s unmatched in town. Our table ordered the brats and kraut (2 brats for $7) which were also enjoyed.
Chapmans has a good variety of their favorites as well as guest beers. They feature a number of Country Heritage wines as well.
Chapmans is off to a great start. Looking forward to seeing how they’ll continue to improve and set a new standard for food quality and service at...
