I've been out to double dragon a few times now, and I'll definitely be going back there again (and again (etc.)). They have an excellent beer selection and they've packed some excellent games into the space they have. You'll find a few loose joysticks here and there, but nothing major enough to stop anyone from having a great time. They've also nailed the atmosphere and musical selections to provide exactly what I'm looking for in a barcade. The only downsides to double dragon is that it needs more room and I'd like to see more taps. The owners have done an amazing job with the space they have, but the location itself just feels too small on a Friday or Saturday night when there's a good deal of people milling about. I also wish they had more beers on tap, but that's also a limitation of the location they could get. The great selection of cans and bottles available definitely helps offset the lack of taps. All in all, if you're looking for a nice arcade where you can enjoy a drink and an awesome atmosphere, I'd highly recommend checking out...
Read moreThe gaming experience here is okay. It's the only place of its kind in town, but having been to pay-a-cover-and-play-free-style "barcades" outside of Fort Wayne, this one was well below par.
Food and drink are fine and average priced, so no complaints.
But their games... Every shooter with an attached gun was either in need of calibration (edges didn't work) or one of the guns was horribly broken. Many of the joysticks had some issues.
It seemed like half their games had something wrong. Even their air hockey table, while it functioned fine, has a faulty scoreboard. I'm not sure if they can't afford to get things fixed or what the deal is.
I had a good time, but it was just a disappointing, well below average place compared to barcades in other cities.
Its best trait is its mostly uniqueness to the area. In that regard, it's better than nothing, and it's reasonably priced to get...
Read morePros: Vibes were great, beer/drink/food selection decent, decent retro arcade game selections, great EDM mix with the DJ, spacious setup for an arcade bar, decent amount of sitting spots. Have not tried the food yet but looks like good portions. Free popcorn (at least when I went)
Cons: Too many games are glitchy or not completely working to justify a $15 game-cover fee. Drinks are a bit expensive. Could not find a coat rack. Need drink holders/tables next to games.
Impression: Could not justify being a "regular" but is a fun experience for an occasional night out. Better setup, size and selection than Ted's Beercade was but its not as homey. Still doesn't compare to Tappers Bar in Indy for an arcade bar but happy to have one...
