It's genuinely hard to figure out where to even begin on how bad of an experience we had.
We went because of their national pancake day event. You'd assume that if you're advertising you're giving a free half stack to every customer that you might have enough staff to deal with all the customers, right? Wrong. You get 2 waitresses and a cook helping customers. Great start.
If you're a fan of a nice, thick milkshake, don't get them from here. It came from the kitchen straight to our table and already it completely liquid. I don't mind that personally, but it was very runny right off the bat. We were impressed when they brought the giant shaker they made them in with literally an entire extra shake's worth of mix in there. Until I tasted it. Comparable to chugging heavy cream straight from the pint if you started with a pack or 2 of sugar in your mouth. Bland and left an awful film in my mouth.
Then we got our food. I was expecting, since every crepe I've ever ordered from there had cream cheese, that my strawberry crepes might have some, right? 4 crepes, 1 single strawberry cut up over top, and that's it. For $9. Absolutely ridiculous. But they were a Godsend next to my wife's food.
She wanted to experiment and got the chicken florentine crepes. I don't know if we missed it or they messed up, but we never saw it included mushrooms and they destroyed them with mushrooms. That's fine, I don't mind them so we swapped. But I swear, their hollandaise sauce was the most atrocious excuse for hollandaise I've ever seen in my life. A thin, sickly yellow sauce that tasted of nothing but cheese. I reluctantly finished them because that was my food now.
Service was surprisingly okay. Until we paid and she got her tip. We then waited over 10 minutes in a nearly empty dining room for boxes. No joke, over 10 minutes. And it wasn't even worth it, their boxes are so terrible it flew almost of its own volition out of my wife's hands this morning and spilled an entire half stack of pancakes straight on the floor. At least they were free.
Just a bad experience from beginning to end. My wife loved IHOP and left telling me she'd be okay never coming again. I'm very tempted to take her up on that offer. Over $40 and an hour and a half of my life I'm never...
Read moreAs I have shared in previous reviews, about 9 months ago, I had two major back surgeries, and I now have a third one on the way in about 3 months. It’s completely changed my lifestyle; I have gone from 230lbs to 125lbs w/out trying, food is difficult to eat, due to my body rejecting it. I also struggle beyond words in many other areas of my life, and out of about every 3 months 1/4 to 1/2 is spent in the hospital having been admitted due to unforeseen complications.
I went to IHOP on W Jefferson a couple of days ago. I had not really eaten anything in almost a week, with basically nothing but fluids and a little macaroni salad. I went inside, and Jacob B. immediately noticed that I was in dire shape. From beginning to end, he showed more patience than I had seen from anyone else and from any other profession, in several months now. He was soft spoken, very well versed, not only did he basically know all menu items.. But he also knew what would be too heavy for me versus too light, and what should be perfect. He gave me his undivided attention the entire time. Plus offered to carry my items to my car, along with holding open the doors when I left!
I definitely asked to speak to the manager, and when the manager introduced himself, I explained what was going on with me, then about Jacob’s service, and told him that he needed about 30 more Jacobs in his restaurant on his team. He asked me if Jacob had happened to mention about when he had started working there, I said that I did not, he said that Jacob had only been there for about 3 days or so by himself on the floor. I was definitely amazed! Such fantastic character and integrity, and for what….some food items!
Because of both Jacob and his awesome Manager for his own personal service plus w/ being able to hire such talent — I will always see that wherever I am in Fort Wayne or some surrounding Counties, as this being my home Restaurant and #1 Go-To Spot!! Kudos to you both, thanks for an amazing experience, even if it was only to go!!! I meant to Post this a couple of days ago, but well, it’s certainly been a...
Read moreWhile the staff were extremely pleasant and attentive, the quality of my coffee, bacon and some of the things on my friends sampler platter were quite poor. As were the kitchen staffs desire to meet requests I made for crispy bacon. Their first attempt was a plate full of the limpest bacon ever. Their second attempt (after my dining guest and I were treated to raised voices from the kitchen complaining about having to recook bacon and how "everyone likes their bacon like that (meaning limp) and She's just being difficult." I'm not, I just don't like bacon that flops completely over when you pick it up by the end. And if I'm paying the bill, shouldn't I get it how I want it?) was a plate full of bacon that was burnt and that also came out about 45 seconds after the first one was taken from our table. Obviously they were pulled from the burn bin. Their next attempt was of a pitiful plate with largely burnt and terribly fatty bacon. I just told the waitress to leave it. I realized there was never going to be anything better coming out of the kitchen. About 5 minutes later a manager finally swung by and started to ask me how the bacon was but before I could answer she looked down at the plate and answered her own question, saying "oh that's bad, that's really burnt. Let me get you something proper." I did inform her that we heard everything the kitchen staff was saying about us and that it's not very professional of them, nor is it smart to be loudly bad mouthing customers when you're working from an open window kitchen that's facing the dining room! She was apologetic and because she and the waitress were so sweet I would definitely give this location another chance. Especially since my pancakes and most of my friends sampler...
