Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken — Restaurant in Fort Wayne

This place is just HORRIBLE! Not only have I heard from ex employees about just now unsanitary things are there, like fly’s and bugs in the back and Leaving items that need refrigerated out in room temperature but the manager there is the worst person I’ve ever talked to or dealt with I have 3 kids that work there 2 got fired over bogus reasons and it disgust me how this lady whose name is AMY became a manger to begin with I feel for any parent who’s child gets a job there. One daughter got fired over a “so called policy” that was never ever told to her, All 3 kids now who got hired the same day and interviewed the same day all said that this manager never once told them any policies , never gave them a handbook (which I confirm on that as well because when I picked them up they never had one or any after that day) so no policies were given to these kids (which were only 14yrs old ) and my daughter clocked out one night (after the manager let 3 others know they need to do two things) so two others did those things and my daughter clocked out because she was NEVER told she couldn’t clock out. My other daughter literally got fired because she called out only ONE damn day That’s right, ONE DAY for being sick and couldn’t get a doctors note that very same day (bcuz she had no way to get to one and she can’t go herself bcuz she’s only 14) so the this lady AMY took my daughter off the schedule til she got one this manager was notified by me and HR about why and this nasty lady still fired her even thought I’ve never once ever heard of someone being fired because they couldn’t get a doctors note for only missing one day of work. This lady who’s a grown woman talks to children about her other employees who also children She told numerous kids who work there, including the other child I take care of that still works there , that my kids were b!tches and lazy and said other nasty things about them and even though HR was called they literally could care less either about what this manager does since they did nothing about it and believed whatever lies this manager told them even though there are witnesses backing up everything that was reported about her. This lady threatens these kids about losing their jobs over the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard of. She’s on a power trip who apparently likes abuse her power by trying to control and scare children I mean what child wants to stress about losing their job just because they got sick and missed only one day of work. I even confronted this lady about what she did and after yelling at her for calling my kids the names she called them she literally messaged a 15yr old (the other child who works there that I take care of ) and told her she would talk to her about it ( meaning the issue that me and her just had) when she got to work What grown woman who’s supposed to be a manager messages a child about an issue that does not involve the kid whatsoever and was discussed between me and her ?? That kid had nothing to do with what me and her talked about so therefore she had no right to say anything to that child about it and basically made it look like that kid would lose her job over what I said to her (literally about her calling my kids b!tches) So therefore I would be careful before letting your kids work here or before anyone else tries to work there as long as that nasty lady is there (and also my kids told me about how this grown adult whose the manager would talk trash to them about other employees and customers) definitely not something a manager should be doing and especially doing with a child. I have already contacted a lawyer about this and they agreed that what she did was wrongful termination and being as I have numerous witnesses makes the case even better Lees is going to be looking at a lawsuit pretty soon all because they made this disgusting person a manager and disregarded any complaints I...

This review pains me because I used to look forward to eating here. I’ve been eating Lee’s chicken since I was a kid. Boycotted KFC cause we liked Lees so much better! I moved away years ago, but always come back here when I visit family. The last few times have been disappointing to say the least. Unfortunately over the past few years this is not the same Lee’s from that time. Today about 5 PM I ordered two 3-piece meals at the drive-thru (which used to include 2 SIDES-now just 1…I added a large side of cole slaw) and pulled forward to the window. I was greeted promptly and handed over my payment. I then waited for around 10-12 minutes. The window finally opened and I’m told “we’re out of original breasts right now…” I was in disbelief that they’d be out of any pieces of chicken at 5 o’clock on a Friday. I’m offered an extra piece of whatever and say ok. This has happened a few times now when I’ve come here over the last couple years-out of certain pieces of chicken. They weren’t that busy either. The chicken taste good, but not the great it used to be. The cole slaw. This was NOT the same cole slaw from years past. It. Was. Terrible. Cabbage and an overdose of vinegar and not much else. The cole slaw here used to be soooo good—creamy sweet and delicious. I ate a couple bites and left the rest. Sadly this was probably my last time making an effort to eat at Lee’s when I come to town. It’s not worth the $$ and time spent waiting anymore. Update Nov 2024–it’s been a couple years since my review. In town again visiting family and decided to grab two 4-piece meals to have with my father for his birthday. Neither of us like chicken legs so I asked for no legs in the meals. The girl at the window was nice and checked to make sure for me. She handed me the bag of meals and I drove away. When we opened the meals there were only 3 pieces of chicken in each one. :/ I cannot win at this place. The chicken we did get was good, and the coleslaw is much better...

Update 12/16: Ordered online for curbside pick up. When I arrived I pulled in the pick up spot and called the store like the sign said. I let it ring no less than 20 times and no one answered. I walked inside and told them who I was and was originally a curbside. I ordered an additional mashed and a large gizzard while I was there. I walked out with my original order and my additional order about 15 minutes later. When I got home you couldn't tell the difference between spicy crispy and the original. The spicy is normally golden, crisp, and delicious. This time it was dark brown and obviously overcooked. Service wasn't the best since they have young kids that don't know proper etiquette when dealing with customers. Instead he mumbled and just stared at me like I was an idiot. When I asked him again (nearly every time he spoke) he would just mumble again. Not even a thank you after dropping $96 and change. Original post: Prices are up and size of chicken pieces is down.
