Ok, so this was the next stop on our journey to "eat local" since this pandemic started. I scouted out this little "mom and pop" taco stand that was inside a Marathon station. Being from Chicago's southeast side, I know that this is THE BEST kind of place to find authentic Mexican food. My instincts were absolutely on the money. The food was every bit as good as we had hoped and then some. We got a little spread for our family of 6. We got a big burrito, 5 chicken tacos, 5 beef tacos and 8 pork tamales. They accidentally forgot the toppings (cilantro onion and lime) but we went back and for our trouble they gave us the most amazing and flavorful rice and beans I have ever tasted. Also, they made the guacamole fresh for our order and the chips were also hot and fresh. I am completely satisfied and will DEFINITELY be back for more soon! If you're in the area, you HAVE...
Read moreGreat tacos, yep... right out of the gas station! All 4 of our tacos come in two layered soft corn tortillas with cilantro and onion on top. We had the steak, chicken, marinated pork, and Mexican sausage (chorizo). Our favorites were the marinated pork and the chorizo, but the other two were pretty good too. The marinated pork was smaller bits of well seasoned pork "crumbs" if you will, not the typical shredded pork. The chorizo was loose and crumbly, well seasoned, and I suspect home made. I also had one of the pork tamales. The tamale was a decent size and there was a generous amount of shredded pork inside. The corn masa was a little dry and the pork could have used more seasoning, but this was easily remedied by pouring green salsa all over it. :) The green salsa had a good kick to it, and the "hot" salsa was...
Read moreComing from California I've had my fair share of delicious mexican food. Always looking for fun new Mexican reastrunts to try! My wife and I stopped in to give them a try. We ordered 3 carne asada tacos and 1 tripe taco all original (onions and cilantro) and a small horchata. I started with the tripe taco, which was one of the pretty good and the horchata was delicious but unfortunately the carne asada tacos fell a little short for me. The carne asada was slightly dry and not the flavor I was expecting. The hot sauce cups you get with your order were also not very spicy at all. Overall I would still suggest coming and trying it for yourself! There are many items on the menu that...
