I recently dined at this restaurant, on this fine evening dated Dec 16, 6:30 PM and while certain aspects left a positive impression, there were notable shortcomings that need attention.
The service was commendable, demonstrating excellent communication and hospitality. However, the disappointment began when the food was significantly delayed, exceeding an hour. The menu offered Batura and Poori, but unfortunately, both lacked any discernible difference in taste or texture. It seemed like they were selling essentially the same item under different names. Additionally, opting for appetizers due to the delay proved unsatisfactory. The aloo tikki resembled frozen hashbrowns from a fast-food chain, lacking the freshness one would expect.
Moving on to the main courses, the Lamb Curry and Chicken Jaipharezi failed to meet flavor expectations. The Fish Pakora also fell short, contributing to an overall unsatisfactory dining experience.
Given our hunger and anticipation, the lackluster quality of the food was disappointing. This establishment should consider elevating its standards in food quality to ensure customer satisfaction.
I share these observations constructively, hoping the restaurant will use the feedback to make improvements. I believe addressing these issues will not only enhance customer experiences but also attract more patrons seeking a higher...
Read moreHaving lived overseas, I have had some very delicious Indian food. Coming back to the US, I was told Taj Mahal is as good as it gets for Indian food in Indiana.
However, we have eaten at Taj Mahal twice now, and were disappointed both times. The curry options are ok, but not as flavorful as we would like. Getting mild, medium, or hot just adds more heat, and doesn't add more flavor.
For the bread options, I was looking for fluffy, buttery, and delicious flatbread, and I was met with mostly flavorless flatbread that was somewhat burnt. Even their garlic naan or cheese naan is so flavorless that it didn't seem worth getting.
Tonight, I tried their butter chicken curry (they call it Chicken Mahkani), and it was almost like tomato soup with chicken in it. Where are the spices? Where is the flavor?
Not only that, but the service was slow and rude. It took over 40 minutes from ordering to get our food, and then we felt rushed, with the staff trying to ask us if we were done with our plates and asking if we needed boxes, both while we were still eating.
If that's not bad enough, the food is pricey. I understand the food will be somewhat Americanized, but this is ridiculous. We will not...

Checked on us ✔️several times, just to make sure our meals were made as requested. Which our meals were sooo GREAT! 😋Taste, 👍🏾texture, 🌶mild spice (for me)... perfect for my palate. Had 🐏Lamb Curry, which was sooo soft, tender & juicy. My husband ordered 🐔Chicken Mikala🍛, which can also be chosen as Mild, Hot or Spicey Hot. Mikala is made in a tomatoe based sauce. This was also, really terrific! Also ordered some different indian breads, to dip in our curry & mikala sauces: "Poori" bread (puffy bread) and "Naan" bread (looks like pita bread, but softer). I ordered some delicious & fresh Mango juice, that compliments the curry. They also have spirits: different 🍻Beers & 🍷Wine, along with different carbonated drinks, juices and of course ice water. 🤩Always a joy to visit the Taj Mahal, best Indian Cuisine in Fort Wayne (as I have tried others) and none compare to the Taj Mahal. So if you are looking for something different and like spices (especially curry), Taj Mahal is surely the #1...
