1 hr wait time for meal delivery to table
We've been driving by here on the way to our grandson's baseball game at Westside Little League for quite a while. We could not wait to try it. We had a party of nine. Four kids, five adults. The decor and set up is just wonderful. Tonight was jazz night. So we had live music, and a great setting.
Jackson was our waiter. Took a while for him to take our orders, both for drinks and for food. We had to ask him to take our orders actually. We had hungry kids, and it was a school night. So perhaps that was a bad choice on our part.
However… we waited over an hour for our food. And it was just burgers and the pomegranate salad. We re-filled our own water glasses more than once, Jackson never returned to ask us if we wanted a second beer or glass of wine or water refill in an hour!!! . We got up and helped ourselves in the cabinet to get our own forks.
The dog .... The great Dane, "Mud Bug", is the mascot of the restaurant. This is all charming, but the dog would put his head on your table, looking for handouts. Because he's so tall, his head is easily the same height as the table. This is a little disconcerting to run the dog off constantly while he's begging for food. None of us fed him from our table, so he wasn't coming back asking for a repeat of a previous experience with our table
We did speak to the owner, to be fair, and let them know what had happened. They explained that it was their first live music night, and we happened to come in on a night that the kitchen was slammed.
The owner offered us business cards for free charcuterie boards as an expression of apology. However, I feel safe in saying that we will not come back. This makes me really sad because the atmosphere and set up makes for a really cool place.
BYW ..... no kid menu options.
If you're headed in for a beer and evening of talk and music, this is a great place. If you want to eat, plan to be patient and ask for your...
Read moreAs a neighborhood resident, Crystal Springs Hideaway has always been a convenient spot for a quick drink or bite. I’ve given it several chances, hoping the experience would improve over time. Unfortunately, after my most recent visit, I feel compelled to share honest feedback.
The bar staff consistently falls short when it comes to customer service. On multiple occasions, I’ve found the bartenders unwelcoming and inattentive. Most recently, I stopped in after work and took a seat at the bar. Despite it being clear that I was waiting to order, the bartender did not acknowledge me—not even a simple “I’ll be right with you.” I understand that staff can be busy, but a warm greeting or a quick acknowledgment goes a long way.
To make matters worse, the manager came behind the bar twice to pour drinks for others and didn’t once greet me or offer assistance. When I asked if the bartender would be returning, his response was indifferent, and he made no effort to help or offer me a drink himself.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t a one-time experience. The lack of engagement from both bartenders and management gives the impression that customers are an afterthought, rather than a priority. There’s a noticeable absence of hospitality and a general lack of enthusiasm from the team, which makes it hard to justify continuing to support the business.
Customer service is the heartbeat of any successful establishment. When that’s missing—especially from leadership—it sends a clear message. After giving Crystal Springs multiple chances, I’ve decided to take my...
Read moreI recently had the chance to try out a neat little spot tucked into the heart of Fort Worth’s River District – Crystal Springs Hideaway. It's located inside a cute little bungalow that has been meticulously restored with much of its historic charm, complete with the original carriage house and a spacious, tree-shaded patio. It’s the perfect setting for game days, with large TVs scattered throughout, and the live music on weekends adds a great vibe. Their burgers come courtesy of the renowned Big Kat Burgers, and they’re truly outstanding. I always go for the Classic Kat, and it never disappoints – juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked every time. When it comes to drinks, my go-to is the Soggy Peso Margarita. It’s a strong, perfectly balanced blend of tartness and sweetness, but they also have an impressive lineup of draft beers if that’s more your style. As you step inside, you’ll also find a cozy wine and cheese shoppe where you can build your own charcuterie board – a nice touch that elevates the experience. With its relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and great food, Crystal Springs Hideaway is exactly what I’ve always wanted in a neighborhood bar...
