If Sage and James (two star reviewers) REALLY want a Mexican Food letdown, they can go to Fresco's off 377. That place has gone downhill in a BIG way by owners that you can tell are just trying to get the joint and reap whatever profit they can. So, we got take-out here tonight. Not really sure why I have not reviewed this place before, as we have done here maybe four or five times in the last 10 or so years. Every experience has been at least a four-star review. This experience was definitely a five-star review.... well, a 4.5/5 star review as I will explain. Placed an online order, which was ready 5 minutes early and the hostess was very polite and cheerful. They seemed to be rather busy. Got the food home. I think I remember the guacamole the last time being pretty much a "make it as you want it" situation. They literally give you avocados and all the accoutrement and you can make it however you want it. Nice touch. Some people don't want tomato. Some people want less jalapeno. We made it delicious and were able to add some of our own spices as well. We both got poblano dishes. The chicken/pollo poblano was really awesome. My wife's pablano relleno was a little lacking in flavor but the poblano sauce was trying to speak for the dish and did so very well. The batter seemed to have a fair amount of egg in it so caution for those that might be a little bit sensitive to egg. Chips were nice, fresh and delicious. Mexican rice was proper Mexican rice, not made with mole sauce like the "new" Fresco's. The crazy thing is that this place is only 5 minutes away from our house, and now we feel bad that we have driven all the way over to Fresco's, especially given that they have gone downhill we will frequent Martha's and the huge menu that they have. Looking forward to trying new things. The only thing that I will definitely give a half star detraction is their flour tortillas......they were really quite awful. Could not have been more out of a box if they tried. So yeah, they really need to improve upon that. If we take future orders to go, as is extremely likely, we will use our own tortillas. Food is delicious however. Not really seeing that two-star reviews by Sage and James really have much substance to them other than to complain about pretty miniscule things (y'alls food looked pretty delicious to me! 🤣). Support your local Mexican food restaurant, and this place is definitely worth the support. We...
Read moreOk so let me start out by saying our server, Tennant, was extremely fantastic! Both he and the Manager (didn't catch his name) made our first experience at Martha's great, and I made sure to let them both know how much my girlfriend and I appreciated their service. It was a Friday night and the place was understandably packed. Plus, they had a very large dining party that night that was having a remembrance party for someone who was a regular there. He loved the place so much they had a huge remembrance party at Martha's because that's how much Martha's meant to him. It spoke volumes about the Manager and location as a whole.
The bar area was packed with people. Our "10-15 minute wait" turned into 30 minutes. We attempted to go up to the bar and get margaritas while we waited for the table and THAT just straight up was a HORRIBLE experience. The 3 -THREE - girls behind the bar moved SO slow, didn't bother acknowledging my existence for the 15 minutes I stood there, and were clearly messing up other customers orders. So we decided to just wait until we were seated to get margaritas, and luckily, Rennan made up for the lack of service we experienced at the bar area. He was attentive, gave us so much information about the menu, and made a great dessert recommendation that my girlfriend's daughter LOVED (fried ice cream) Major kudos to Rennan!!
Now, as for the Margaritas: I had a strawberry margarita and my girlfriend had a mango margarita. We are always going to new places strictly just to try their margaritas (they're kinda our thing lol) They were delicious, strong, and worth the afore-mentioned wait.
The food was good. I got the #21 which was 3 different enchiladas... I've had better from other places, but I honestly think if we had gone on a night that wasn't as busy they might've come out a little better. Maybe the kitchen was just super rushed...?
My girlfriend and her daughter split the beef enchiladas and my girlfriend was blown away by them. She was super impressed!
Overall I give Martha's 4/5 stars thanks to the Owner/Manager, our server Rennan, and the great frozen Margaritas. Those girls behind the bar gotta go though. They were horrible to say it nicely, and the hostess's weren't so great either. The poor manager was having to step in and help with so much because a lot of the staff just didn't take their job seriously at all or...
Read moreWe stood at hostess table with no one in front of us for awhile. A man walks up to the hostess stand and rumages through the menus and walks off while saying he will be right back. Another man walks up a few minutes later and we get seated without a napkin or silverware. We sit for quite some time and the waitress comes to take our drink order. I order the drink that is on a big sign at the main entrance. We get waters after about 5 to ten minutes and she says they are out of the drink that they are advertising and walks off quickly without taking our order. No chips or salsa on the table yet. My boyfriend had to shout he wanted queso with her back to us. We got the queso after about 5 minutes , but we were almost out of chips at that point. The waitress got some more chips after another 5 minutes. The chips were pretty broken up, the queso was runny and flavorless. She took our order and we waited and waited and waited to the point that we were going to pay for my drink and the nasty queso and leave. The restaurant was pretty empty, but it took the food 30+ minutes to come out and when it did come out, they didn't even have rice. We got Southwest corn to substitute the rice and it tasted like either potato or onion soup with some corn thrown into it. My food wasn't even that hot for waiting so long. The replacement frozen drink, a strawberry margarita, wasn't so frozen and was overpriced for being a basic drink. My boyfriend's water was empty for quite some time and did not get refilled even once. With all of the things that went wrong, there was not manager to be seen or to check on any of the tables. This must be why the coupons are coming in the mail constantly because the food and service are terrible. We will not be...
