Recently, I held dialogue with a group of black men, discussing food options for lunch. After moments of debating, we decided on Thai food. SPICE Thai restaurant at 411 W Magnolia Ave, Fort Worth, is the closest Thai food restaurant near our workplace. Someone mentioned SPICE and almost everyone simultaneously gave a doubtful undertone of discuss. Wow! We instantaneously agreed that we’ve all experienced racial macroaggressions at SPICE Thai restaurant, from the Owner and some staff members, specially, the older employees. We all began to discuss what each of our racial experiences were. Some of the black men mentioned examples of, while paying the bill, or being greeted at the door or seated at the table, the owner or some employees would not show any facial expressions to any of the black men but would give big smiles to the white male and female patrons. This was experienced on countless occasions. All of these black men claimed to experience standing at the front door of the restaurant waiting to be seated at least for 10 to 15 minutes without being acknowledged or seated while there are open available tables! These men as well as I have noticed white patrons enter the front door and almost immediately be seated. I wanted to be sure that the initial group of men weren’t being hypersensitive or over exaggerating their experiences, just to be in agreement with the majority. I was very curious and wanted to conduct a small experiment. I asked another group of black men that have eaten at SPICE Thai restaurant at 411 W Magnolia Ave, Fort Worth, TX, and asked if they have ever experienced any racial experiences at SPICE? Every one of the ten black men; claimed of receiving different levels of racial micro or macro aggression. The comparison was based on the level of customer service of black males to white patrons. Additionally, some employees were seen being more attentive and friendly towards white customers, while seeming dismissive or neglectful towards black people, specifically towards black men. These examples are all anecdotal experiences between twenty pulse black men. I wasn’t surprised hearing the results of these black men. After speaking with these men, I felt it necessary to inform SPICE management of the findings and give the owners an opportunity to address the issue. These men in question and I will continue to boycott SPICE, as well as encourage anyone else that has experienced racial macroaggressions at SPICE to stop spending your dollars at SPICE until the owners hire black employees, and can give black men the same friendly, attentive, service with a smile service that is given to...
Read moreSo today is the last day I will get food from here. I ordered online and my card i had connected ro the website didn't ho through because I didn't have the correct 3 # code. So I put in a new card. After ordering I got a message from the card that didn't work and the card i put in that I had been charged 48.08 on both cards. When I went to pick up my food I asked ro speak to the manager and told the guy why. I can see the manager standing in the open door way and she tells the guy to show me orders they received. As he is telling me to just go to my bank and fix it, I see her just staring at me. I told him that I would like the managers name so that if I have to resolve the issue myself I can tell them what manager I spoke to and that I tried to resolve through the restraunt. This women finally comes over to us to tell me she doesn't need to give me her name and that all I have to do is tell the bank the restraunt. You know if you are unable to give customer service that why are you there. I will never fo back. The food quality has gone down since I got my coworkers to go there this past year. Everytime we have had a problem they are rude. Even if we ask a question about an order. But it is one thing to not make the food spicy enough or the rice is a little under or overcooked. It is another when you mess with my money and you can't even give me your name and you are the manager. Plus to tell me you have nothing to do with the website so it's not your problem is a load of crock. If something has your name and your branding then at least act like you...
Read moreI've had several good experiences here, but the last few have been disappointing. My wife and I went on a Saturday night around 6:15. The location is fairly small, and they've been open for a while. You'd think they'd have all their service issues ironed out but it was still very slow. I'll get into that more later.
My wife got the yellow curry, 3 out of 5 on the spicy scale and it was great. Served hot, what you'd expect from a 3, great flavor. Would definitely order again.
I ordered Pad Thai (I know) 3 out of 5, combo meats with extra meat. Mine was served borderline cold, and with absolutely no spiciness at all. Very bland. We actually never saw our original waitress again for the rest of the evening, and when I was able to flag someone down, they told me "we are very busy, so unless you want to wait another 45 minutes, I can bring you out some pepper oil".
That was pretty much the end of the evening for us. I actually had to go wait at the to-go counter for our check because the service was beyond terrible. They have maybe 20 tables with 5 wait staff running around, so there really is no excuse. It's just terribly managed.
It's a shame, because Fort Worth needs a good Thai place. The food can be great, it's just not consistent. If you want to roll the dice, it's possible you might have a...
